What on EARTH is this steering issue??

Does it only on full lock to left. Really irritating now. Sometimes throws the wheel back with force if try to hold against lock. Occasionally I get heavy steering randomly when driving, completely back to normal as soon as you restart the car

Sounds like a power steering issue, also when you full lock the steering try not to keep it there or force it in any way as generally speaking it can cause damage. The first thing I would suggest is check the the power steering fluid level, at the same time also check the power steering fluid itself. If it is ATF it is red in colour, if CHF11S it will be green, worn fluid turns brown and darkens more as it's left. The third thing is the power steering pump itself but I have a feeling it may just be down to the fluid

exactly what you said power steering fluid has to be replaced from time to time, should not leak but again the noise from OP video sounds like pump issue or fluid low, wonder how hard it is to turn and if he notices any issues while turning like harder to turn than usual.

I rarely ever full lock the car only held it there for the purpose of demonstrating in the vid

As for the fluid that was my initial thoughts too, however the E93 comes with Electric Power Steering as standard (I realised this when I couldn’t find any power steering reservoir in the engine bay), does that leave the pump or steering rack?

(Unless I’m being daft and just can’t find the reservoir?) does the electric power steering still use fluid?

Oh dear, just because of the cost difference I was hoping we would be looking at a fluid issue, that said we haven't concluded anything just yet. Do you have the last 7 digits of your VIN or what year is your car? that way we could have a look on RealOEM and search for the power steering pump.

Some cars have the optional 'active steering' too, I don't know much about it but would be worth finding out if you have the standard setup or active.

here is the pic of the steering unit electric, I would say have a friend help you out and turn the wheels while you are looking under the car and try to check if the motor is making that noise. Not sure how electric steering behaves when you turn to the max.

I had the intermediate shaft go bad caused slimier steering issues, felt bound up at certain positions, not all that uncommon I understand.
