German number plate surrounds *gauging interest*
Reading around, it seems getting a set of proper german number plate surrounds for our BMW's is a PITA. So I'm gauging interest on whether it's worth bringing back a batch of these from Germany when I return next Thursday.

If you'd posted this a couple of weeks ago I would definitely have been interested. Got some ebay specials! Not quite what I was expecting but they'll do.

I used to think these were OK, but this style of number plate surround (if not actual genuine ones) are absolutely done to death here in Ireland. Every second German car you see (invariably TDIs and the like) has them, usually combined with those pressed plates with German-style font

How did you get on dude? Interested to see what surrounds they had on offer. Someone's reversed in to the front of my car and cracked mine, so I might be in the market for a new set, should you be able to get some.

I have these on mine. I just bought them off ebay for about £10. They just have the BMW roundel on them, Bought a set with the Mini logo on them for the wife's car too. I got some totally plane plates made up without any dealer names/logos on them (although I know these are legally questionable but won't fail an MOT). I looked into the German pressed plates but after researching them and reading on the forums about how much of a pain they can be with the boys in blue I just didn't bother in the end.
I did have a pair that had M-Power on them when I first got the car (didn't even know what M-Power meant as I was new to BMWs). Then I found out what it mean and realised that they looked ridiculous on my vehicle as it is clearly not an M car. Last edited by wrongmark; 05-03-2018 at 02:21 AM.. |
