e90 328i Engine Ticking Noise, Louder / Faster on acceletation & RPM surging

So my 328i has some type of ticking noise.

When i accelerate it sounds like some type of chain noise.

Here is the video of sound in engine bay + acceleration issue

Here is another video inside cabin with acceleration and rpm fluctuation as seen in the video as rpms go higher and come down, they have an issue stabilizing and jump right back up and down

Any ideas?

Is that a RHD car in the US? BMW was(is?) doing lifter and head swaps to solve the issue. Would imaging having an import might create some issues...

I had my lifters done and still had intermittent ticking. Changing to a different oil solved my issues. So far so good(20000+ km's). Went with Shell T6. I am not going to start an oil discussion with anyone, just letting you know what I use.

I would do an oil/filter change and see if it helps. I found the Castrol LL oil would start ticking after 5-6000km's or so. New oil would always make it go away.

That sounds like there is an additional tick noise above the typical lifter tick. I dunno its so hard to diagnose these issues from a video alone. As already mentioned maybe try an oil change to see if something changes.

Damn look like there's quite a bit going on with your car that needs fixing...

Sounds like lifter tick to me... Do an oil change, try a 5W40 oil instead. Might quieten it up if it's indeed the lifters.

Would the lifters also cause the RPM surging seen in the video?
