Courtesy Yield

What's one car you refuse to do a courtesy yield to? For example, allow a car to pull out in front of you while you're at a stop or someone getting on the highway.

For me, Toyota Prius.

I don’t single out vehicles based on make/model. What purpose does it serve other than to be needlessly hostile? The whole idea behind courtesy is to treat others with dignity and respect, as you’d want to be treated. Unless someone is being a total jackass on the road, there’s no reason not to show them common courtesy.

I thought it was a ridiculous enough of a question to not be taken seriously. If its off topic then I apologize, please move thread.

Thought it would be an interesting question to ask and see the type of answers it would get.

I hope I didn't offend the moderator. Its Friday, why is everyone so uptight?

Heh, nope. Turns out that after years of research scientists eventually determined that words don’t have facial expressions. Oh and that trolling is real. That was some time ago now. Later emoji’s were invented, and the world rejoiced. <- appropriate emoji example

It’s not about the day of the week or relative state of relaxation - more about being responsible for keeping the place from being unpleasant and abrasive.

Please feel free to discuss which makes/models of cars seem to have the most annoying drivers in your opinion. Just keep in mind, everyone outside this forum thinks it’s you.

Ehhh.. If they're ready to merge into traffic, they get to do their thing. If it's at a zipper, it's every other car. I'll never stop the flow to let someone turn onto the road though.

Anyone who intentionally messes up traffic flow to block another driver, or stop unnecessarily to let someone in, should either A: learn not to drive like an asshole, or B: go jump off a cliff. Notice I said jump, not drive. No need to hurt the car.

Just let it go dude.

Don't pick fights and more importantly don't respond to shyt other people pull. It's easier said than done, especially the latter, but it's just not worth it.

You never know who's the crazy hillbilly, ghetto hootrat, or whoever else that has NOTHING to lose by pulling a gun on you or doing some other crazy shyt. Not everybody thinks rationally or worries about having a criminal record.

No car in particular, but rather the asshat who is trying to get onto the highway, while on the phone, and thinking everyone is supposed to be aware that he is entering. WAKE UP!

It’s attitudes like this that make other Drivers believe that all BMW drivers are asshats.

Thanks a lot.

Then again, I have a BMW AH3 so you’d probably be an asshat to me as well.

For the record, my girlfriend drives a Prius and we have a running joke that Prius drivers are nuts.

Recently came to the conclusion a few months ago, I just don’t give a f*ck anymore. Have always been an overly courteous driver. You just don’t get any courtesy back these days, not even a little wave saying “hey thanks for letting me in”. Just decided to drive selfish from now on.

no car preference, im usually pretty courteous to everyone in the city.

on highways its a different story. hate people who join the highway too slow or hog the left lane.

Simple.

I don't yield to any driver who is attempting to muscle their way out of a junction.
I yield to courteous drivers who are willing to wait for their own right of way. Normally indicated by them holding back a little from the line. Courtesy breeds courtesy

It has nothing whatsoever to do with the make or model of car their driving. For example, I've even witnessed some BMW drivers display courtesy on my travels

Sorry to hear that...I wish sometimes every US driver could spend a couple of weeks blasting around German roads and see how we can all drive on the same roads in relative harmony...I especially like the 3ft law about giving cyclists and mopeds their space and the Zipper rule....just saying!

Anyone who's trying to cut in front of everyone.

Examples of situations were I won't yield:

- Drivers who cut through parking lots to avoid a light.

- Drivers who cut in front to avoid sitting in a long turn lane.

- Drivers who cross double-solid white line for HOV because they either: Trying to pass a slower driver in HOV lane, Use HOV lane to pass drivers in non-HOV lane.

My general rule is to let other drivers in as a courtesy, but only if there are no cars behind me. I can give up my right of way, but shouldn't give up the right for the drivers behind me. It's like letting someone cut you in line... you're being a dbag to those behind you. I do believe in organized and civil zipper merging, though.

I started this thread because in Los Angeles, there's a surprising amount of bad drivers in a Prius. It's not just me as most of the people I know also have experienced it.

It's funny really because you'll get both ends of the spectrum: the super defensive driver who causes all the traffic and slows everyone down and then the super aggressive Prius driver who thinks they're driving a high performance vehicle cutting in and out of traffic.
