Got a ticket :[

I got a ticket for not yielding to oncoming traffic before turning left. I'm going to try to fight it, but before I do has anyone gotten a ticket for this before and can give me pointers? There was a lot of traffic in the area. I was in the left lane in the middle of the intersection waiting for cars to pass but the cars in the opposite direction weren't driving so i made the turn and right when i did this, a bus gunned it and started honking at me (F@##$#G hate busses) The copper asked me if i didn't see the bus so I explained to him but that made no difference. Should i do trial by declaration or go to the court?

There goes my aerolip money =[

Dude... You never pay for a ticket. That's like the rule of thumb. Always take it to court.

You will receive tons of spam from lawyers in the coming few days. Pick one.

The truth is most of the time the cop doesn't even show up for court. And if that happens your ticket get thrown out the window, no points, and no driving school.

The only thing is the cost for the ticket will go to the lawyers instead. But I rather pay them and get no points and no school.

It may be that way where you live, but here we a complaint form in our file and a few days off without pay if we FTA for court. It's either make some overtime and go or get on the fast track out of this job.

To the OP, I don't know the law or how the judges are in your area. Your best bet is to always get an attorney - a local attorney who works with traffic a lot - and go from there. If money is tight, you can always just talk to the prosecutor on your own, explain things and see what deals they will offer.

I know nothing about trial by mail as we do not have that here. Would be much easier for me if it did. Copy video onto CD, write a small narrative and be done.
