N54 Electrical Issue RPM Idrive
My car is a 2010 N54 FBO Backend flash E85 50/50 mix (LPFP stage 2) (94k mileage)
I'm encountering a problem where if I have the engine over certain RPM around the range of 4000 to 7000 (40%-100% throttle input).... Electrical power will cut off to the iDrive system then to the speedometer in the matter of 5-10 seconds. The car will stutter up top initially and then electrical power will presume back to normal after i shift the car back into "D'". I pulled the codes from my JB4 mobile and i got a code for 2DED "Power management, Standby Current control". I clear the codes and the code doesn't come back.... very odd. But the issue will still occur My normal drive to work has no problems if i keep the car under a 4k rpm and drive at a moderate speed. Things Ive checked: 1. Checked all the fuses 2. Battery Negative connection is tight and the red power cable to the ecu isnt corroded. 3. the modules under the floor matt are not damp. My spark plugs and igntion coils are new and i have index 12 injectors. The battery is around 2 1/2 years old. I have replacement parts for the Crankshaft positon sensor (just incase it went bad) which i doubt has to do with it and i have a Alternator voltage regular sensor which could solve this issue. My guess is that it has to do with either a loose wire to somewhere or an alternator issue. let me know what you think it could be? Thanks! The notion of "loose wire" makes sense to me - perhaps the rpm dependence of the problem is about the level of vibration which might provoke the circuit to open.
Don't have a theory as to why the symptoms are restricted in the way they seem to be but has the recall about the power wire to the JBE/Fusebox been addressed in your vehicle? |

Is it RPM or acceleration Gs? If you rev in neutral does the same issue happen?
I'm leaning towards loose wire/bad connection too. The alternator is grounded thru the engine's grounding strap; check that too as they are known to get loose and/or corrode. |

The recall was done in 2014 but i suspect that the connection could be bad. I dont know and i will find out shortly. |

So i checked the ground straps and they look fine. Looking to install the new red power cable and see if that fixes my issue. Such as strange issue with this car man lol
