Wants space after 5 years
Girlfriend of 5 years decides she wants space. Its been a month and she's made it unofficially clear she doesn't wanna reconcile.
Where's the beer?

I think since she's been soo wrong about by going a whole month into this garbage and simple not saying anything, that I will just literally cut her off. I can do it, although it hurts and gets me mad. I wanna call and text her, but I know that the conversation is not going to go my way, so I avoid it.

i dated this one girl for almost 3 years. couple of times we kinda stopped talking and that lasted a month each time. no fights, just stopped calling/seeing each other. both times we reconciled, but at the end i still broke up with her anyway. that relationship was going nowhere.

Why would you want to be with someone that doesn't want to be with you?
Considered everything you have invested a sunk cost and move on.

Here's whats helping me.. Stay busy. It's when you're alone you fall apart. I had a major break down yesterday but as soon as I was in the company of someone else I pulled myself together. So just keep busy and in the company of others.

There's a character in Larry Niven's novels named Louis Wu, who lives for a thousand years. Louis' reaction to life's setbacks is always the same: "I'm going to get over this sometime - why not now?"
I also recommending taking comfort in one eternal truth: The Dude abides. |

Sorry bro. Girls (and guys) can be pretty fucked up at times. My good friends girl pulled this shit on him after a year and a half. They were talking marriage and shit and one week was just like "I need some space and lets take a break", which equated to "Theres this other dude I think I may want to hump so instead of fully breaking up let me ride this dude a time or 20 and maybe we'll work things out".
Needless to say he's moved on and almost a year later she realized she fucked up. So I say you do the same. You'll find someone better, trust me.

OP - i'd confront her about this situation and be upfront with her. I've been with my girl 6 years almost 7 this august, and we had a "incident" where it seemed like we were drifting apart - no she didn't cheat on me, nor I on her, but it was just a bump along the road we had to ride over. the best thing is if you talk to her, and not just let things get away. If you really love her, you will do whatever it takes to stay with her. If you don't feel that way, then I believe you two should talk it out and decide on what to do, either way, don't just stay shutup and let the situation get worse.
