it has to have a drain plug
that's the only way to get the old oil out when you change it, of course there's a drain plug Socom, so when you buy a new filter kit it comes with a new drain plug????? My E36 used to come with new seals and o rings, but not a new plug. |

They dont know what they are talking about
There is a drain plug, but its behinde the splash guard. Just remove the splash guard and you have easy access to the normal drain plug. The tightening torque is also listed as 25Nm |

IIRC, the oil change procedure on new Mercedes models involves the use of a top-side oil extractor instead of lifting the car and using the drain plug. I believe they still have drain plugs, they just aren't used by the dealerships if they are following the factory procedure.
