HELP !! My car has gone coo coo - low bat
I need help getting my car back on for work tommorow. Just went out to the garage and found my lights on. I turned them off. Tried to turn engine on, but car would die out (lights in dash dimm then die) as the starter motor kicks in. Then my display shows random errors - ABS , an exclamation mark..etc. Then I notice my clock is reset!
I try to lock car. I push remote button, but my HID is still on. Can't turn it off. I unlock, get in, put key....more error messages (airbags now). I pull key out. Finally everything goes off. I know there is still "lots" of battery left as the starter can actially start for a couple of cycles before car goes coo coo and dies. I came back here to ask if I can start the car going down an incline while in first...or will this mess up the whole "start button" stuff? Help !! Thanks Skimo |

Okay, this is strange. Just got back from the garage. There is a 330ci parked out there with the lights also left on.....
Is this the "may BMW rest in peace" day? Anyway, I managed to get my car started . Everything seems ok except for the clock being reset. Will find out in the morning if there has been other "damage" Skimo |

the indicator stalk of the e90 is very sensitive. my kid pushed it once and the parking light came on. you must have tapped it accidentally, without knowing and lights must have drained the batt. mystery solved, i think! be very careful with that indicator stalk.

When the battery was flat on my E46, when I tried starting it - the xenons (even though they were in the OFF position) would come on and flicker and I would get all sorts of warnings.
Being unable to wait, I called roadside assistance and they jumped started the car. There is probably nothing wrong with your car except the battery went a little flat. Drive at least 30-50km's and all should be good. If it happens again, take it in to BMW for them to test the battery and the alternator :-) |

Never, ever, ever roll start your car down an incline in gear. You run a very high risk of irrepairably damaging your catalytic converter. It must be jump started, and even at that preferably with a booster pack and not from the battery in another vehicle as a voltage spike can fry electronics.
