Thumbs down 330i Shift Lag and Engine Vibration????

My friend drives a 330i auto and he is having a lag from 2nd to 3rd gear??? Is that normal?? The lag is about 1 to 2 seconds. Plus he is saying he has engine vibration sometimes at a stand still. I felt the vibration and it doesn't seem normal. Anyone here has similiar symptoms???

Vibration is pretty strong where you can feel the whole car shake. The lag happens when driving the sport mode. Is this normal or could it be a tranny problem???

I also have engine vibration, but mostly after starting my car soon after I turned it off. It smoothes out after about 10 seconds though, but for the coils to be going bad...it needs to be a pretty violent shake (like in my 03 vw when the coils were bad).

Yes is your friend still in the break in period? If so then after it is over this engine vibration should subside. But I don't feel it much when I wear my D&G leather jacket while driving. LoL I saw your name and I just had to make a comment about it.

When i shift "manually" in my auto, i also get that 1-2 second lag. So, i am pretty sure it's by design. If you wanna shift in an instant, manual trans is the way to go. I was considering this option myself but opted for the auto cuz i drive in the city a lot.

I have felt the vibration coming from the engine bay too. It mostly occurs when i am waiting at the light or during cold starts. Lately, i haven't felt it though. Maybe because it's after my break-in?

I drove my friends car yesterday and yeah the lag is pretty noticable and quite dissapointing. It gets to a point that you don't even want to put it in manual shift mode and just leave it auto. I sure hope BMW will do something about this to correct both the vibration and Lag. Has anyone brought it back to BMW to see if this is normal??

My friend had enough so he brought it back to BMW to have a look. BMW says the lag and vibration is normal as the car is being broken into. Is that true or is that total BS??? My friend told them the vibration was very harsh sometimes and the lag is very noticable. BMW took it out for a test drive and the car engine wouldn't vibrate. Don't you just hate that when that happens. So the mechanic says this is ok and normal at this time. What do you guys think??? So they did not fix anything.

Yes, its true. During the break in period I had many vibrations as well as the noticable gear shift lag. But after the break in period I noticed very few and much less violent vibrations, and the shift gear lag minimized to 10 percent of what it was before.
