Do you agree SG looks more purple?

Took a close look in person at the showroom, taken some photos and like the SG on the spot with no hesitation and didnt find it purple. But, after a while starring at the pics in Official SG tread, found it too much purple and does not even look close as in the brochure.
i am wondering why? am i tired of this color already?

like the silver initially, then turn to Arctic b'cos i want the special effects of those chrome window trim shows it self better than silver under hot sun which is barely visible.

needless to say, SG even better with the chrome window trim.

Black & SBlack is not on my list.

Care to share some comments..

I agree that it looks purple. When i first picked up the car it was out in direct sunlight, I was very surprised by the color. However, given the right lighting conditions the color can look amazing.

Yes, I also saw the purple hue. Kinda turned me off from the car and went with black.

I noticed the purplish hue when I went to see the car in person. I was also suprised how dark it was compared to the brochure. Those two thinkgs turned me away from SG. If SG was more like the pictures in the brochure, I would've gotten that in a heart beat. Instead, I went with Artic Metallic.

It's not for me. The purple is pretty obvious. I assume that most people that buy SG must like it. I assume the same thing must be true for Arctic--people who choose it like the variability of the color.

I think it will be much much better if BMW can make the SG look like Infiniti G35's diamand graphite color, which is my favor color.

I have the SG and it only looks purple when parked near a blue car because of the reflection (at least to me). Most lighting it looks really good, sometimes a brownish hue though. I like that the color is unique and has some variablility to it. The only other color I even would have considered is the black. My only concern with the color is that I may end up getting sick of it; black is a safer bet. In the end I went with interesting and new.

I saw Sparkling Graphite in bright sunlight twice and it doesn't look purple to me at all. I agree with Dan, it looks more brown if anything under sunlight. In any case, it's a very striking color and that is why I ordered it.

Yep, definitely looks purple, but not all the time. Its a great color, but i switched right before production to Black Sapphire.

You can't go wrong with SG, i just didn't want to hate my decision later on with the whole purple issue.

SG definitely has more purple and brown in it than the brochure shows. Because I was expecting it to look like the brochure, I was a little turned off by it at first. It however has grown on me quite a bit and I just placed an order for one. I like its variability in different lights. I also like the fact that its a darker color, which suits the E90, but at the same time its not completely dark like monaco or black. I was set on a black leather interior so I thought the exterior should be something else. I also think some of the exterior accents like the chrome trim can be a bit too obvious on a black paint job.

Never planned on getting SG, but definitely has a purple hue in certain lighting conditions.

of course it has a purple hue to it! Especially when the bright sun is directly over head. However on cloudy days the cooler hues come out. Just like the Arctic looks completely different from minute to minute based on the angle of the sun and amount of cloud cover. I still think the SG is the nicest when it comes to depth of colour. The black is obviously darkest, silver opposite, SG right in the middle.

Do you thing black interior lacks the luxurious feel compared to beige/lemon?

still cant really decide over the colors, who knows i might end up with Arctic...as i really dont like purple.

now comes the interior..headache time again...

if i order beige, can i make 3 other door handles comes in black..plss.. notice the floor mat comes in beige as well..hard time to think how to keep 'em clean everytime....

Rather than purple or brown, perhaps we should say 'mauve'.

Incidentally, Bimmer325--where is KL?

I have a Sparkling Graphite, and it does look purplish in certain light. Especially under fluorescent lights for some reason. I was a little disappointed (never saw one in person before mine was delivered) but hey, my last car was VW's "Windsor Blue" and it was REALLY purplish looking.

In the sunlight or during overcast conditions, the color looks really good to me, and does not look purple.

I have really taken a liking to Arctic, and Titanium Silver is also a good color if you like the silver/grey color family and don't want SG. You might also consider the color called Sonora. It's kind of a metallic gold, and I think it will look pretty cool. I don't think it's available yet, but it should be a good looking color and quite unique.

OMG CC330i, I think you're the 1st person that I've read that likes Sonora.
Have you seen it in person before on a 5-series?

Both the SG, which I have, and the Artic seems to have chamelon chracteristics. That is, the color seems to morph under different light. Kind of cool I think but it sure makes it hard to decide on a color. Sometimes I think I should have gone with TiAg but then the light hits my car just right and I know I made the right decision.

Well, it's funny, because a year ago, I would have thought

But, I just got married and my wife likes gold (go figure ). So I guess some of that is rubbing off on me. Haven't seen one in person, so maybe I would be disappointed. We'll see.

Well, let's just say it's "interesting". About 5 years ago, my Dad came home with a dark gray car and I thought, "how disgusting and plain". Now look at me with my Sterling Graphite car...
