Vinyl Wrapping my Roof Box - Requesting Input
I'm considering wrapping my BMW roof box, and wanted some input.
I have a F31 Mineral Grey Metallic, and the 320 Roof Box. The OEM roof box is gloss black upper, and rough/matte black lower. At a minimum, I'm intending to color match at least the upper box (and probably lower). Other thoughts are to add something unique (stripe, design, etc.), but that will be considered later. Ideally, I'd like a perfect color match to BMW Mineral Grey Metallic (B39). Is there a company who makes this exact vinyl (e.g. 3M), or do you have to compromise for the closest possible match? I spoke with a local reputable installer. They use Avery Dennison film. He implied that they can "print" any color, but for a metallic, it's advisable to try to match directly. If the Avery catalogue isn't close enough, he said they can explore other options (I assume this to mean seek other manufacturer's film). Finally, his rough, over-the-phone estimate was $400-500. This seems higher than I'd expect, but my knowledge of this topic is limited. I don't mind to pay someone, but my cynical side always suspects "BMW" = higher price. I like DIY projects, but suspect this might prove frustrating to a novice. I appreciate any feedback.
