Gap Between Headlights and Hood

Hey,

Just installed aftermarket Spyder headlights and noticed a couple issues relating to headlight adjustment and spacing. There seems to be a gap between the hood and the headlights which allows light to leak from the top. I've already tried adjusting the hood spacing dials, but that did not change anything. I feel like I need to adjust the headlights for vertical alignment? Not exactly sure how to because there are 5 bolts holding each headlight in place. Any thoughts?

Attached images
1) Light leakage from both sides
2) Tip of finger gap from left side
3) Whole knuckle gap from right side
4) Light leakage from the top (hood open)

You might be stuck with that light coming from the top. Unless you can cover it up with something.

I think you can adjust the whole headlight but the screws need to be loose.

Just wondering why you didn’t go with depo?

There's a pretty considerable gap on a stock car. It does not show light but there is a gap there between the headlight and hood.

That looks like a design flaw to me. There shouldn't be any light coming from the lamps back there.

Thanks, I liked the look of the Spyder headlights more and it was a bit cheaper. I think it may be a design flaw indeed, so I might actually swap these out for the depos. Has anyone else had this issue with the Spyder headlights?

everything looks good can you take a picture with the hood up so we can see if you line up the bumper correctly or if we can spot something that is off. I have the same light and everything lined up perfect for me

This is what it looks like from the top with the hood opened. Does yours have light coming out the top as well?

Gap should be very tight (as shown above). Something's off...

I'm with gizmo try loosing up your headlights bolt and lift up when tightening

Absolutely a design flaw. No light escapes from the back of the OEM lamps. Perhaps that part of the lamps under the hood could be painted black. Why the maker didn't do so is puzzlement.

You could also compare lower gap with us to make sure they are positioned properly vertically.

Also... as Billfitz said, mask off the area well and paint black.

That combined with the proper positioning should solve your issues.
