Ski Resort Suggestions International

Hey fellas. I know there's a lot of people who ski/snowboard here from my past post. So this season's pretty much done and I'm looking into 2019/20 season. I've pretty much conquered all of North America with the exception of Big sky, Banff, and Telluride.

Got to snowboard for a brief time by Interlaken Switzerland. I'm looking at some places in the Alps but between France, Swiss, Italy, Austria there's so many places. I know the big spots like Chamonix, Zermatt, Laax but my knowledge is limited. Looking for some feedback. Much appreciated.

Been skiing Tahoe the past couple years and loving every minute of it. Coming from upstate New York, its quite a bit different!

Would also love to ski internationally some day.

Tahoe is definitely top 3 NA destinations on my list. Love Kirkwood and Squaw valley. Heavenly not so much.

I know you said you've conquered most of N. America and are looking to get off the continent, but I've gotta still plug Whistler-Blackcomb. Mostly because I was there last weekend and am still riding the high. Amazing place.

I've done some snowboarding in Banff and Corvatsch and Diavolezza in Switzerland (Some incredible back country views).

By no means as I a super accomplished snowboarder but I enjoyed my time at all 3.

Top 2 on my NA list. Boarded there 3 seasons ago for 5 days straight. I like the blackcomb side a lot better than the whistler side.
That t-bar to the blackcomb summit was agonizing.

Corvatsch and Diavolezza looks amazing. Any particular reason you chose those in Swiss rather than the other bigger resorts?

Agreed. Ski the Blackcomb side, party on the Whistler side. That's how I roll.

Peak to Creek is pretty fun though. I mean, come on, a 7 mile run?! What's not to love about that!

I like Whistler. In my opinion the best ski resort in US/Canada.

If you want to go to Europe - pick any of the top 5 resorts in Alps.

On that 7 mile run at one point, I bombed it down and hit a max speed of 52 mph from what my trace snow(great app btw) was telling me.

I can highly recommend Zermatt, it is one of the most beautiful towns the world. Absolutely gorgeous place.

As you know, another great place to base yourself would be Interlaken or one of the towns nearby (Grindelwald, etc), plenty of superb skin there as well.

Have fun!

Thank you. I've been endlessly reading about Zermatt and Verbier. It's a serious contender on my list.
Not going back to Interlaken for I did all of the touristy things like going to the top of Europe at Jungfrau and boarded for a brief moment at the grindelwald side.

I've always loved Heavenly. Back in the day, it was neat watching the jets in their landing approaches below you. I don't think Tahoe has scheduled flights anymore. You have to fly in to Reno.

Skiwelt in Austria. 2 hour drive from Munich.

I lived over there for 2 years and every weekend we drive down during the winter. It’s huge area with a bunch of other ranges near by. I was there in February and did 110 miles of boarding in 4 days.

Westendorf area is a good area to stay in.

The last time we stayed in Zermatt, it was Summer, we stayed at the Hotel Alpenhof which is about a 10 minute walk to the lowest chair. A truly beautiful town!

Beautiful. Truly love Swiss. I did the whole train ride from Geneva to Montrex, Bern, Interlaken, Lucerne, Zurich and I would do it all over again.

Check out the high altitude ski report of Tignes, France

It's not overly popular i don't think but has some great slopes!

Let me know how the temps are in march. My biggest gripe going there is that it's always so cold.
