MiniClubman or LR2

Well,

I just sold my 335i Coupe. I'm expecting a little one, and decided it would be a good decision to have and extra door or two. My dilemma is:

1. Buy a Mini Clubman
a. Great gas mileage (with gas prices going up,up,up)
b. Extra door
c. Still sporty
d. Can get a cargo rack for the roof to travel
e. About $4-5k less than the LR2
f. I can still make another trip to the Nurburgring while I'm in Europe

or

2. LR2
a. A lot more room
b. All-Wheel-Drive
c. Towing
d. Good mileage for an SUV (about 22-23 average from what I have read)
e. off-road ability (if I can't have sporty, off-road is fun, too).
f. 4-doors

I'd say go for the clubman for the looks and fun alone...

I'd rather speed around than go offroading, and do you really need to tow and have the extra room? if not you'll be fine with the mini.

Go for the Mini.

Good on gas, very fun car, and a good daily driver.

6'2" 205lbs and my Mini is, well, just fine.

Oh, and I am getting 28.4 in the city.

As a Land Rover owner, all I can say is that LR reliabilty lacks a bit so to speak.

There are a ton of better small SUV's options.

I like the mini, but to me the clubman looks a bit odd, going to take time getting used to the stretch, and I'm not crazy about the back silver color surrounding the tail lights

^ The ambulance doors are where they blew it to me. How the heck do you load up if a vehicle is up close to the back?

My vote is for the Mini. It will do everything you need and be much less expensive to own, on top of the $5,000 you'll save up front. It will be more rewarding to drive each day. Landrovers have also had poor reliability for years and are expensive to maintain, comparitively.

The same way you would if you had a liftgate.

How about an X3? Handles better, drives better and is faster then the rover with better mileage. The rover is a DOG in acceleration. It does nothing better than the X3 except look pretty and go off road. I never understood the point of that car.

Not really. A lift would more than likely have a slide down or pop up glass. And the lift gates extension would then be designed not as lengthy as doors.

Saw it on a show where they raced the Clubman indoors against a go kart.

The LR2 looks way better than the X3 - which has no redeeming angle at all.

Its interior is superior to the X3 - those Captain's chairs are seriously awesome.

The Sunroof is amazing.

It is not fast, but it can go off road like a champ - beats out many other so called off roaders.

Amazing sound system.

Terrain Response.

Comes fully loaded (with every possible option) for much less than the Bimmer.

And Finally, its reliability is actually pretty damn good (unlike the LR3 and the RR).

My problem with the X3 (loaner) was my right foot laid on the brake while using the gas pedal. My feet are not that wide either. Drove me nuts.

I don't think those doors on the Clubman open that far. I know the liftgate on my Jeep Grand Cherokee comes out far enough that if I were against a wall I'd haev to pull forward a bit. I would assume the same for the Clubman, but then again I've not had a chance to play with one in person yet.
