My radio went crazy

I was just driving and boom, the speakers explode with a static noise. It was scary because I was making a left turn and thought something happened to the car.

Coincidentally, this happened on the way to the BMW dealer to drop my car off regarding the front cigarette lighter not working.

So the car is with them getting diagnosed, since the radio wont even turn on at all anymore.

Has this happened to anyone? seems bizarre.

Are your windows tinted? There were other 2-series owners whos amp fried cause the tinter got water in it.

This has happened to a bunch of people on the forum. Sounds like a blown amp. I think the most common cause has been water damage from fluid/water leaking into the back of the car after having the rear windshield tinted.

my car is not tinted. fully stock other then a Carbon spoiler which I installed last night.

There's a vent above the rear drivers side wheel well that can let water into the amp area, so if you or the person washing your car has power washed that area water could have gotten in that way.

They said AMP is fried. They said the part is backordered from germany...so car is in the shop for 3 weeks

too bad I cant get a M replacement car.
