Laser Lights
I have a build..with a production scheduled for next week..hopefully..but I did not get the laser lights..mainly due to the fact that the US get's laser "lights light"..i.e. only high beams are laser which cut off when another light comes its way. Well that is what I have heard. If the low beams are the same, which is what I would use say..80-90% of the time..don't know I want to spend the $1000. The look so freakin cool!!! Would this help with resale down the road? But as most of you know the option list can get very expensive and I probably have already exceed my budget. Any insights would be appreciated.

1. If you get the laser lights you have the option to have BMW enable full functionality later on, if/when US gives its approval
2. I believe the cornering lights are only available with Laser |

The "laser lights light" you are referring to have nothing to do with low beams as far as I know. The lasers work on high beams above 37mph. Right now they are not allowed their full brightness or more importantly the dazzle (just shutting off the beam where the approaching car is). The changes will hopefully be approved soon as the comment period has been closed since December.

Just tried to change my order to get the laser lights..and was told that BMW is not equipping the laser lights in USA due to potentinal legal liability. On a positive note my X5 is IN production!!!

Someone is lying to you. More than likely they just told you that because your car is in production and the build can no longer be changed. Probably didn’t want you not taking that car and going for a new build with laser lights.

Laser lights are here to stay despite the fact that we don't have the full functionality. You were lied to.

REMEMBER - if you pass on the laser lights, you will be stuck with the lousy " bags under the eyes" daytime running lights. Coming toward you, it looks like the the thing blew a fuse. No BMW halos for you on a $61,000 base X5.
