Very carefully!! Its actually quite simple, even i did it myself!! Take a look at the set you are replacing the current ones with (assume this is what you are doing) - you will see a series of clips all the way around - you need to carefully and gently prize these apart and the grills will simply slot into the gaps.

Thats one way of doing it!! Just be careful not to snap or weaken the plastic tabs.

the DIY section on this forum is very good .... just look here
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47059 i liked the idea of spending a little more time removing a few bolts etc like in the above DIY rather than just pulling and hoping

well anyone who has the shaddow line window trim needs a black grille in my opinion mate. If you have the chrome trim leave it std grille.

Matt Black grill every day of the week Carlos - you know how much i detest chrome anyway - but i think its one of the very simple and cheap mods that totally transform the front end of the car. Ive also got CF bonnet and boot decals/roundels and these also really transform and colour code the car. Black grills on a black car look especially mean - just look at Kins motor!!! But i think they would look good on yours too as its dark. You could always get the grills colour coded - Baris has done that on his red E46 M3 - and that looks great and different too. Get it done kiddo!!!

A nice bit of chrome never did anyone any harm!
Just remember to keep it nice and polished! To give it a classy, classic look. Chrome and dark colours, yes. Chrome and light colours, not so sure therefore black and lights colours is cool!

Not too sure why everyone hates chrome so much. I really liked it on my black E92, I thought the chrome grills & window surrounds, provided a little bit of contrast & complimented the alloys to a degree.
I'm now finding the shadow line on my E90 makes the window seals look tatty (gloss against matt) - I suppose I could always clean it!!! Anyway, don't mean to spark off a debate (I've got a headache so can't be bothered!!!), I'm easy either way. It's either all chrome or all not in my opinion.

Not too sure the half and half approach will catch on though, eh 'bmwbailey', or have you finished off the de-chroming now?!?!?!?!?

I was wondering what state the surrounds would be if you decided to u-turn and go back to chrome - didn't like to say anything!!! Wonder how long it would be until someone on the street actually noticed your car half chrome/half not - perhaps you could have stumbled upon a new craze???
