Possible Vettel Retirement at the end of this season?

It seems we've been here before. Mr. Vettel gets a new team mate who seems faster and applies pressure to the 4x WDC and poof...he goes away to another team. That was in 2015 when he went to The Scuderia and after 5 seasons under his leadership, they are even farther away from the WDC let alone a WCC.

The rumor mill after Monaco is abuzz that Mr. Vettel may retire from Formula One altogether.

I went on record earlier that he was done-for after the arrival of Mr. Leclerc at The Scuderia. I still believe so now.

Thoughts?

Nope, he switches with Gasly and goes back to Red Bull. Ferrari gets best friends as drivers and Vettel just wants to piss off MV for a year or two for last year.

If anything I don't think it is Leclerc chasing him away as much as it is the Ferrari Team management the last couple of years and there weird mistakes race decisions/strategy if you can call it that.

Ricciardo should take Vettel's seat if he isn't back next year. Ricciardo still has that killer instinct in him, wasted in the Renault.

2020 will be the year for such decisions.

Good number of rumors that come out this early in a season turn out to be mostly rubbish.

I don't think Danny would do well at Ferrari. Thought I think Max and Jos could get Ferrari five or six wins, even as soon as 2020.

He outperformed Vettel during Vettel’s final Red Bull season. More than held his own against Max, in fact his stats were much better.

I'm trying to imply Ferrari is Italian in manner, that the Verstappen's (father and son) could tame the Ferrari Machiavellian behavior I imagine exist.

As for rumors, I like the Hulkenberg taking Gasly's seat rumor.

I doubt Vettel is walking away from F1 unless he has a miserable year, wins no races and continues to make stupid mistakes. Barring that extreme drop in ability, I'm sure he will still believe he can beat Hamilton with the right car, strategy and luck. Formula 1 drivers, especially world champions, have supersized egos. He might have serious doubts if Ferrari and Leclerc were doing better, but Ferrari is so screwed up right now no driver would see themselves as the problem there.

Wait, am I missing Leclerc lighting the world on fire or something? If anything, the guy has been a tremendous disappointment so far and shows nothing of that rookie fire that a driver such as Max showed when he got with a big team. If anything, Max should have got that damned seat (yeah contract I know).

But for an equipment failure, Leclerc would have won his first race already. Leclerc was already asked to not pass Vettel in Australia when he was clearly faster and was asked to let Vettel by in order to allow him to chase Bottas and he didn't close in one bit. Add Monaco to the Hall of Shame and you have 4 of 6 races where Leclerc was compromised by management.

Leclerc is the real deal. Ferrari is ruining him in the worst possible way. He is faster than Vettel, no doubt. Once the idiots at The Scuderia realize this, there will be a different outcome. Or Leclerc will go elsewhere.

Did anybody else catch that huge tank slapper Vettel had at the beginning of the race? I was psyched he didn't go round.

Il Commodore must be rolling in his grave....he had NO patience or room for excuses, debacles, etc....Enzo Ferrari would have cleaned house at the expense of team momentum....or no momentum....he had the decision making personna to make things happen....even when he wrote off Lauda and was assured he would pass away....Lauda returned and took his seat back from Reutemann....enraging the Old Man....nonetheless, The Prancing Horse Scuderia has lost their way....much like McLaren and Williams....it's a new leaner, meaner, more agile F1 profile and package....survival of the fittest, not the fastest.

He's always had a performance clause in his contract so it wouldn't be a surprise. Which by the way he negotiates himself unlike many drivers.
