Post 08 e90 seems so much better

Hi

I currently am running around in a 08 e90 330D which is a courtesy car while my 06 330D is in for some rear-end repairs at the bodyshop.

The 08 car seems so much better than mine

1) basic sound system is a huge improvement
2) engine is more refined
3) it's an msport, same as mine, but it rides so much better on RFT's
4) seems better built - less rattles from the rear
5) there's no force-feedback on th idrive - so much easier to use.
6) idrive wheel has a grip on it

leads me to think my car is a dog!!

I absolutely agree with you. I've recently driven an '08' 330i M Sport & two '08' 320d M sport (whislt trying to diagnose my suspension issues) and both made my car feel... ...lumpy.

The ride on all of the others (OK there is a weight difference with them) was miles better than mine. They just felt better built - maybe 2 years of wear & tear can make older cars feel this different.

The ride on them was miles better however I'm putting it down to newer RFT's. One of the 320d's on Bridgestones, the other 320d on Michelins. Not sure what the 330i was on (Bridgestones I think).

Gives you that 'new car itch' doesnt it!!!

Funny you should mention it. I have had my 320d M Sport for 1 week and 1000 miles and I am sure the rear axle is more compliant over bumps than my 56 plate car. And thats with the Bridgestone RFT's.

Engine is better if still a little tight. I know that it is a new engine over my previous car but it is for the better.

Didn't previously suffer rattles. The iDrive is easier to use than I was expecting since almost everyone has complained about it since its inception. I have learned most need to know options in one 400 mile drive to Sheffiled and back.

surely your courtesy car must have upgraded audio.
Standard set-up is cr@p IMO - I drove 3 diff courtesy cars before ordering mine, all with standard audio, and was appalled at how bad it was.
upgraded to the HiFi loudspeaker option which still isn't as good as the STANDARD (non-bose) set up in the A3 I've just moved from, but it's far better than standard....

How can he tell if it has HiFi in a E90? I know in the E92 you just look for the duel speakers in the rear side panel.

Definatly basic sound system. no tweeter grills in the front doors, and no amp in the boot.

It just makes me so disappointed with my own car!!
I've got new michelin RFT's on mine, and doesn't ride anywhere like the 08.

One thing I'm definaly gonna do is order the idrive wheel for the 08 car and put it in mine.
