Paint Repair and Restoration Advice (please help)

So I have a 2017 340i (Glacier Silver Metallic) that had a small parking lot accident when someone swiped the front driver side bumper. Tiny superficial paint damage only with some semi-deep scratches into the paint. Since I’m having the work done I’m going to have the hood, fenders and A Pillars done as well because the previous owner put a lot of highway miles on the car. My question is this: How important is it to find someone who specializes in BMWs for the work? There are two really reputable auto shops in my area that have two very different price points. I don’t mind spending the extra money for as close to factory perfect as I can get, but I don’t want to overpay if painting and blending isn’t too difficult on these cars. I want as good as I can get so when it cures I can PPF the front end and.

Any advice, guidance or personal experience would be very helpful. Thanks!

I had a bumper repainted by a BMW certified body shop. They matched the paint perfectly, but I don't necessarily think that only a BMW shop is capable of doing that. Do your due diligence to see the quality of their work, but know that silver is generally considered one of the hardest colors to paint match. With paint and body work, while not always the case, my experience has been that you get what you pay for. If I have to do it again, I'd stick with the BMW shop that tends to work mostly on BMWs and is familiar with their paint.

Read it & heed it! Unfortunately, some of the local dealers here have horrible body shops. I hope D&V near Dulles is one shop you are considering.

That’s actually who I’m using. D&V Auto Masters, their second location. I’m getting the majority of the car repainted after it was recommended by Detail Authority. I drop the car off next week.

It's not about BMW it's about who does the best paint work regardless
