Slow drivers in left lane!!

It seems to me that more and more now, the slower moving drivers stay in the left lane and will not move over to allow faster cars to pass. I run with lights on and flash my brights but few will move over forcing me to pass them on the right. Is this common in places other than the South.

P.S. In the 1970's, on two-lane highways, people would pull over onto the shoulder to let the faster cars pass!!!

I hate that too. I see it more closer to down town than farther out. I just find an opening and gun it.

Yes, unfortunately there are idiots everywhere. High and mighty, self righteous, arrogant, ignorant people who think that going the speed limit in the left lane means they don't have to move over. I know at least one person who says that he sometimes goes the speed limit in the left lane just to make other people slow down.

Some of them even have the nerve to honk at you when you are forced to pass them on the right (which technically is also illegal, at least in my state).

lol...I can't tell if you're being serious or sarcastic...since you know people going the speed limit are entitled to do so in any lane...

But yes, I do often get annoyed when I'm traveling 75mph and some bloke going 60mph doesn't give a damn about anyone else and is in the left lane blocking everyone......

I'm being serious, and they are not entitled to do so in any lane. The are required by law (in most states, but not all), to move over if they are in the left lane and faster traffic approaches them from behind.

True. It's very common here in Florida and almost guaranteed if the car has New York or Ontario plates.

It's a violation of highway traffic act to stay on the passing lane in Ontario, but I never see police pulling over those people...

So true. I wish the laws were like they are in Germany. Slow traffic on the right, fast on the left. You are only able to pass on the left. If someone faster than you is behind you, move to the right. So organized and efficient. I cannot wait to leave this country.

That is the law in most of the U.S., sadly it's just not enforced, and most drivers are largely uneducated regarding the law(s).

all i gotta say is that if I'm doing 15-20 over the speed limit, then i will not move out of the way of a faster car...

but i agree that speed limit people should move for 10+ mph vehicles (at the very least)...

Its the same in the mid atlantic region. Freaking Virginia drivers are the worst. They will take up all three lanes and match speed for as long as they could. That's why I take my bike everywhere in the summer. If they don't move I just pull up next to them, give the finger and wave goodbye as I dust'em. I know it pisses them off and its like therapy to me. Most of the time I won't even wait for them to change lanes. I just drop a couple of gears and do a fly bye. It usually scares the hell out of them and makes them swerve. No mercy for the weak or righteous on the street. I say fuk'em

Wrong. Left lane is for passing not cruising with other people. Did you get your license yesterday?

Funny, we usually say that about cars from New York or Michigan here in Toronto. More often than not they tend to peg the speed limit and just go about their business, oblivious to everyone else passing en masse right around them.

Anyhow, the other day I was driving along on a 3-lane stretch and ended up behind a slow Nissan Murano in the left lane. So I moved one to the right and accelerated to about 20km/h faster than the other driver and passed, next thing I know I hear this engine screaming like it's being tortured and see the Nissan fly past me and go infront then slow back down. Naturally I can't figure this guy out so I move one more to the right and do the same thing, this time I accelerate even more slowly so as not to give the idea that I'm provoking him into a race or who knows what...well he does it again. Didn't matter as I had to turn right shortly thereafter but I just can't figure these things out.
