Seiko SKX009 or 007

I’m not sure which one to get.

Next up, should you get the J-model or the K-model, Strapcode or stock Jubilee. FWIW, I've got the 007 and I'm about to get an 009, might also perhaps try modding s/t....and a couple of cool looking special editions..... It really is a sickness. I figure if I can stay off the hard stuff (Rolex, Omega, Breitling....) I won't have a big problem, right.

I already have a problem. My SS Submariner, SS Datejust, Sarb033, and so on. I'm going backwards now. My Seiko SRP773 gets a lot of wrist time. It's a little on the big side, but it wears small on my 7 3/4 wrist. My limit is 40mm watches. However, I was at a Seiko sample sale, and could not pass on the Turtle for the price. I'm looking at the Seiko Blue Alpinist too. I'll be ordering the SKX007 anyday now. This hobby is fun, and could get expensive. Hey, there's worse things in life that we all could be addicted too. This watch game is harmless. Although, your better half might differ.

J code and prefer the skx007. Put mine on nato and wore as sole watch for 10 day vacation just changed color of strap couple times.

Once you start you are screwed. I have vintage omega, breitling, and bunch of other interesting things. The stakes keep going up.

Pretty sure was from crown and buckle have dozen or so variants to switch onto different watches. I like nato or leather because of the stretch they offer can be snug but not bite smash you like a bracelet can or be sloppy.

Just for argument's sake, why would anybody think that?

007 for me, but the Pepsi 009 isn't a bad choice.

because the J is made in Japan and perceived to be of a better quality

The K is made, (well assembled), probably in Thailand, from parts made ??

I believe more and more parts are made in China

I bought both

Is the SKX007 worth the increase in price? I was going to pick one up, however, decided to go with the Turtle SRP773. So, a year later, and I still have interest in the 007. I read that J and K models are pretty much identical. Not sure if a J model is worth the extra $50-$70.00.

J vs K is quite a touchy topic on watch forums and the internet in general. Plenty of Seiko fans will say the J and K are the same watch made in the same factory that is NOT in Japan. The J models are intended for Arabic countries with loose "country of origin" requirements so SEIKO can print MADE IN JAPAN on the dial even though it's not technically true. This is why the second language on the day wheel is Arabic on J model rather than some other language (any other language)

Others will say it says MADE IN JAPAN so it must be made in Japan.

There's no argument that the J models have a higher perceived value, both at retail and on the used market. I'd say it's up the the individual to decide whether that MADE IN JAPAN dial is worth the extra money.

Now regarding the Turtle vs 007, I have both and find that nothing about the 007 is more appealing to me over the Turtle. My 007 just sits in a drawer

Have you seen the Seiko SBDC051 or 053? Excellent alternatives and would last a lifetime...

So I'm an old guy, I was trained as a commercial diver and many of the guys I went to school with ended up working in offshore oil and doing deep mixed gas diving....this was the shit back in the day....having said that one of my instructors and now a friend worked on the Comox project and they all got a Rolex Sea Dweller, I have one now (not the comox version). I didn't work in off shore oil but did work as a diver for along time and did a lot of mixed gas chamber work....anyway, I might just buy one of these because why not.
