They could have handled it a lot better than they did. Instead of just kicking him out, they should have talked to the parents and the kid, let them know that the kid has great stuff/potential, and stick him in a more advanced league.
I read this article on CNN could days ago, and that stated that one of the league administrators employer sponsors the defending league champions...

As a board member on a Little League I can tell you this is a no-win situation until his age catches up wtih his fastball. Parents complain, kids get scared and quit, and this IS just a 9 year old kid who wants to play baseball.
What bothers me is the fact that this LL has TEAM sponsors, that's supposed to be against the LL charter. MAYBE news is reporting this incorrectly, they are not really part of the trademark Little League. |

Bullshit. Tell them that there will always be someone better than you, and you have to work twice as hard to keep up. Determination and practice will make you a better player and person in the long run.
Everyone is such a cry baby today when their kids get beat at something. It's a learning experience, and these parents aren't teaching their kids jack-squat! When my cousin was 13 he was throwing 70mph+. No one complained about his skill. |
