My local dealer had 11 M3 verts on the lot yesterday.
The party is over. The main gains of the auto industry the past few years was not because of rich people. It was because the of middle/lower class who now are losing their homes and have no savings. I believe that 30-50% of the folks driving BMW's in the U.S. should not be. So it makes sense the sales and production lines of most makes will drop by 20-30% or more. Especially for premium cars. The credit dynamics are changing as well. It is no longer about qualifying for credit, and more about how much you really can afford.

The pendulum is definitely swinging a different way. I just hope we don't go through those periods like the mid to latter 1970s and the early 1980s when so-called performance cars were a joke. Remember the Mustang II and the 180hp Vette?

Chrysler should just fold up shop on regular cars, and build nothing but supercars. It seems to be the only thing they can get right.

The issue has always been.... "As long as there are folks who settle for crap and buy crappy cars, there will always be a market for crappy cars." I don't blame the big three, but rather the millions of idiot Americans who don't know quality if is smacked them in the face. Go look at Ford cars in Australia. The American Ford crap would never sell there.
