330i Accelaration 0-60; 0-100

I know that the accelaration times for cars vary's greatly on air temp, surface conditions, driver etc... but my question is, does the car mileage affect the 0-60 times?

I ask this because AudiA4 posted a thread (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1620)
saying that after 2k miles the power in his car was really coming in. Also, other members said that the power feel is even greater after about 5k-8k miles. Would the accelaration times be faster after 8k compared to 2k miles?? How about 15k miles?

thanks,

BD

P.S--> i will be driving the car in Boston. Will the freezing temps improve power enough to get better than 0-60mph of 5.6seconds acceleration times??

Yup. you can feel a BMW engine get looser over the first few thousand miles

A car magazine did a test here of the 0-62 of a new car, and found it much worse than claimed, in the next issue the car manufacturer gave them a car with 5 times the milage on it and then they got the claimed figures

Any car will perform better after 15-20K miles than it will brand new off the dealer's lot. Sure this tapers off once you hit a high enough mileage, depending on how you maintained the car.

What exactly are you doing that you need to improve on a time of 5.6 seconds? Would 5.5 be better? Would it make any sort of practical difference?

yeah, 5.5 or even 5 would be better but im a realist. I would love to get as much juice as possible because im sure i will be doing a lot of highway runs and friendly competition against some serious cars when conditions permit. Some cars: (RX-8, 330, 330ci, VR6, 350z, FX35, S4, etc).

But would freezing temps help lower 0-60 considerably?

Yes but only if you are not at any significant altitude.

The freezing question is entirely silly because it helps your car just as much as it helps the other guy. Its not like you're doing time trials at freezing temps while the other guy is in 90 degree temps then you compare times.

Besides which, at freezing temps drive carefully! Black ice and ice are all over the road.

The advantage of the freezing temperatures is that it creates black ice that fills in all the Boston potholes.

That sounds great. Then the cars can do ice skating instead of denting rims while they try to hit 60mph in under 4 seconds.

hahaha.. potholes in boston are worse than we have here in CNY. Gov't should spend money on road conditions instead of war.
