Exclamation 1st Service - 8000 Miles - E90 330i

Hi fellow BMW drivers,

I currently drive a 330I M sport and I have noticed that at 8000 miles my car is due for a service.

How much does 1 st service cost, I have been told by one official dealer it will be 117 for the engine oil + 179 for the brake fluids

Is that reasonable or should I shop around for a better deal? Is the brake fluid required as well?

Thanks

RI

Brake fluid is supposed to be replaced after two years though in non premium brand garages it's often not done but charged for.

I wonder if BMW dealers are any different...

Service At 8000 miles is a little low I have always been able to get 14,000 to over 15,000 out of my previous BM's. My latest E93 is showing 700mls to go and has currently done 13,500. I accept brake fluid change is 2 yearly.

Minimum service interval is 2 years so it has timed out rather than being triggered by usage.

Except in the US where they require an oil change at a maximum interval of 12 months.

I paid £90 for the brake fluid change at my local dealer. Just wondering if you maybe have the figures the wrong way round as £117 is quite cheap for the oil service.

Well if its been sat for three to six months the brake fluid is the same that was loaded in at the factory. Mine was built July 06 and July 08 the light came on.

I was referring to brake fluid service

The oil service is not fixed as it depends how slow or hard you drive the car as well as time.

That is absolutely correct. The fluid change interval for the standard BMW Dot 4 brake fluid is 2 years, irrespective of usage. For Dot 5.1 fluids, the recommended change interval is 6 months!!

I was on about a car being built July 06 but not registered till Dec 06.
So 24-5 = 19 months to brake fluid change not the full two years.

I can't see the guys at the docks loading brake fluid into each car before delivery as the car has to normally be driven off the ship - so no fluid would mean no brakes!!
