Need Help Identifying Part
I came across this torn rubber hose in the trunk my car the other day. I think it's for water drainage, but I'm not sure and I can't find any information about the part anywhere.

Look in the hole. Any chance you see wires?

I think rubber boot is only part of the whole wiring repair kit.

That part is the rubber boot for the trunk wire harness that feeds the electrical wires from the body to the trunk lid.
The part number for just the rubber boot is: 61136919394; Rubber grommet, trunk lid, right. I'm not exactly sure, but based on the pic of the harness from ECS tuning, I think the replacement procedure is to disconnect all the connections within the trunk lid (for lights and the lock mechanism) and feed the cable out of the trunk, then remove the torn boot, then feed the cable back through the new boot, and into the trunk lid, then reconnect all the small plugs. Check the wires in the boot through the hole, as the car ages, the wire insulation gets brittle and cracks and needs to be repaired. After a long time and many trunk openings and closings, the copper wire fatigues and will break also.

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Thanks for the replies, I was way off in my assumption about water drainage..
I looked inside, and the wiring harness looks to be a good shape, nothing is exposed and there are no symptoms of any issues. Based on the diagram and image on ECS, I don't think you can only replace the rubber part. For now I'll just keep an eye on it, maybe throw a little electrical tape on to seal the exposed area and call it a day. |

You can buy this part separately, yes.
That said, I'm really not sure how you replace this, as it looked to me like the harness connectors would never fit through the grommet. I'm probably missing something though. If anyone figures it out let me know!

It's rubber and stretches. The largest of the trunk side connectors will slide through with a little bit of lube. Or just de-pin the large body-side connector, slide the boot on the wires, then re-pin the connector.
