330d turbo diesel

Are the TDIs good for short runs in the city. Does it create problems for the cat converter or turbo? The old turbos need to cool before switching off. Am I worrying too much?

Excellent post

Agree, although there has been instances of the DPF not getting hot enough to burn off the particulates and thus clog up when subjected to too much city driving/short runs. Good excuse to go for a long, hard run I say.

the engine wont have much of a chance to warm up will it ! i imagine wouldnt be too good long term. My 335D takes a good 5 mins in the morning to properly warm through before it 'doesnt feel like a diesel'

I think the only think that's fair to say is that on short runs in stop start the mpg difference between petrol and Diesel gets much closer, I thought there was a special mode where the car will delibrately burns off deposits if it feels the need to do so, I am sure I read it in the forum somewhere

No problem for the car though

You are correct, but the car needs to be travelling at a minimum speed for a certain period of time. Found the link, it's mentioned on the first post.

Feel I missed out on that smell now lol.
