Nut fell into bellhousing (FML)
At this point I am convinced this car has some type of bad luck, nothing has gone as planned since I bought this thing anyways as the tittle says I dropped a nut into the hole where the starter goes
I was finding a nut for the windshield wipers since it was missing... and the nut managed to bonce off the starter and right into the bellhousing Anyone know what I can do to get it out? I already went and bought one of those extendo magnets but it does not bend so I did get in down in there at least I think and no luck, I cant find a picture of what it looks like inside there to try and route the magnet through. On Wednesday the mechanics are coming to put my head back on and they have a bore scope so maybe we can find it with that, I just dont wanna have the tranny out again it would be about the 6th time. |

Was the nut steel or aluminum?
You can get an endoscope camera to have a look around: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=endoscope...nb_sb_ss_i_1_9 |

I've always wanted an Endoscope... Cheap... May be time to add one to your tool box. Here's one, but there are lots of choices

You have opening on the bottom to access torque convert / fly wheel bolts that is covered with plastic cap. Look there. Use flexible magnet if bolt was steel. New starter bolts are aluminum.

the nut was some random one in my toolbox because I was trying to find one that would fit the windshield wipers, the opening is for the MT too?

Isn't there an inspection cover down there? If you can find some strong Ring magnets and some strong "STRONG" string you may try to fish it out but theres a lot of steel in there and if that fails...
