At dealer.... as a trade-in. Immaculate 9000 miles. Steptronic, none in inventory. Have a guess.

I can't be too much help, but keep in mind when shopping around remember that for 2009 BMW finally lowered prices in the Canadian market.
I actually wonder how that is going to affect the CPO and private sale market...

what options? I can book it out for you at work but I need more options on the car. My guess would be 26-27k

23500$ is the answer I got yesterday. I checked on the lot and they have none for sale.
They argued that they have to reserve 3000$ in order to be able to sell it as certified 6 yrs / 100000miles. So basically they tell ME to finance this obvious bullshit.... are they just out of their mind? In the same week, one of my employees traded in his 9000 miles 2007 Mazda3 GS for a 22500$ Mazda6 2009 with no money loss. 16100$ was owed on it. They told him that they consider the trade-in value at 15100$ and that they eat 1000$ (offset by the 6, of course). If BMW doesn't trust the resale value of their cars, who will? 23500$ is ridiculous, even in a context that BMW Canada frauded their local market for so long, and now resale value are adjusted. I am outraged. |

They're crazy as a fox!
BMW realizes that someone might want a BMW, but few if any actually need a BMW. Someone might need the function of a Honda or a Toyota, but they're more-or-less equivalent products. Since BMW is selling emotion, not transportation, they have a lot of leverage in the transaction. (They've been building some parts same way for at least 40 years, they always break exactly the same way, and we still buy the cars. This is love, not sanity!) I traded my old Acura for a Honda Accord for my daughter as a graduation present. (I didn't need the Acura because I started telecommuting and she didn't want the Acura because it had a stick shift.) I was amazed by the relatively high trade-in value of the Acura. If I were going to trade cars every couple of years, I'd buy Hondas or Toyotas. My BMW should be a "keeper" at least through the extended warranty period. I don't know afterwards. There is a lot more stuff to break on that car than there was on the 2002 of 35 years ago. What else can you buy in Canada today for 23500$ that matches the value of a 2007 E90 BMW for 23500$? "Practical, roomy and economical" (like an Accord or Camry), but not boring!

Dealers have more mark-up on used cars than new ones. Always sell it yourself on the open market.

With mileage that low, you should be able to get quite a bit more selling it yourself...Throw it on ebay and see what it goes for...ebay changed their fee structure for cars and now you only pay if the car actually sells....
