Well, I have jumped ship from Hojin to Hoegh Kobe. I have an eye on a car that has been confirmed on this ship.

Hoegh Kobe is due into the Atlantic Anchorage side of the PanCanal on Oct 2. It should transit the canal on Oct 3 or Oct 4. Keep an eye on this schedule:

http://www.boydsteamship.com/traffic...king_slots.htm

It is due to stop at the port of San Diego (Porsche, Volkswagen) on October 10, Long Beach (Mercedes) on Oct 11, and then on to Port Hueneme on Oct 12.

Here is the port of San Diego schedule:

http://www.sdmis.org/schedule/

You have to pay to see the vessel schedule for Long Beach, so I don't have that link.

Here is his picture: (By the way, this ship's previous name was Maersk Wizard, but was renamed Hoegh Kobe in 2006)

I found a new tracking web site. It is showing Hoegh Kobe (Call Sign: 9VMC2) off the northwest corner of Africa. This ship holds 5000 cars and was built in 2006.

Also, assuming it docks port hueneme on oct 12, how long do you all think to get to my dealer in Arizona?

If the ship docks on Sunday, they will unload it on Sunday, but the VPC (vehicle prep center) isn't open, so all priority one cars will have to wait to be processed on Monday. If you don't have any after-market additions, or no damage to your car, it should be through the VPC on Tuesday and be loaded onto trucks. The LA people could see their cars on Wed or Thur.

The tricky part for you in AZ, is they will not send a truck to AZ without it being full. So, it will take some time to fill a truck bound for AZ. On my car in April, I had to wait for a second ship to come in to fill the truck bound for UT, but that ship was only a day behind, so I didn't wait very long. My first SL took seven days to get to UT (ship arrived on Friday), my second SL took five days to get to UT (ship arrived on I think Saturday). The good thing for you BMW owners, is BMW uses Waggoneers Trucking, and they have a customer service number that you can call to learn when they have taken possession of your car and where it is on the road as it heads your way.

One thing you can do if you have some extra time, e92pvaz, is check some of the west coast ship threads in the past six months or so, for people who are from AZ, and see how long it took for those people to get their cars. I know in the April time period when I was tracking last, there was a guy from AZ and I think it took about 10 days for him to get his car in AZ. But, I could be wrong.

The other thing that really holds up a car is Euro Delivery. It can take a good week for your car just to get through customs. At least that is the time frame the last time I tracked in April, and I think the previous time I tracked, too. And, that was for BOTH port Hueneme and Long Beach customs. Both the BMW euro deliveries and Mercedes euro deliveries were taking forever! I will never do a euro delivery again because of that, unless it is a car I really wasn't THAT excited to get.

Thanks sdslayer for that map. It looks like HK's arrival into the PanCanal has slipped by a day, too.

HK is presumably out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean right now and is not trackable. So, we have to sit and wait until it gets closer to the PanCanal, and is within reach (50 miles) of PanCanal's AIS radar. It is due into the PanCanal region on Oct 3.

I found a new web site (new since my last tracking in April) that is very nice.

http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/def...spx?level0=100

Click on the boxes for marine traffic in and around the major world ports. Unfortunately, it doesn't cover the PanCanal, but AISLive does, so we will have to depend on sdslayer for help at that time.

I am impressed how this new web site is picking up traffic in the region of Baja California. With Shinemicro.com, we were only able to pick up traffic in the waters starting around the US border, but with this new web site, it shows traffic further down the coast of Baja. It will be nice for us to catch our ships on radar the day before they hit the San Diego region. AISLive use to not even cover this Baja area; even last April it was spotty. For us who don't have AISLive, this new web site will be helpful to us as our ships come up the coast towards SoCal.

Here is another AIS tracking web site. It looks like it has nearly the same AIS feeds as marinetraffic.com. The Panama Canal is still not trackable, though.

Here is a screenshot from sailwx.info from this morning. Ship Hansa Visby (right side of map) is due into the PanCanal the same day as Hoegh Kobe, so you can keep an eye on Hansa Visby to have an idea of HK's location.

Thanks sdslayer. I got word last night that I won't be getting the car that is on this ship (the dealership who has the allocation of my copy of car won't do a trade with my dealership), so I won't be tracking on this thread anymore. I had to place a new car order today, which means I have to start from the beginning. It doesn't make me very happy. My car won't be built for three more weeks. So, I will be hanging around here and there, but I won't be tracking my own car/ship until the end of October, maybe beginning of November. I can't believe I am doing this again.

Damn, that sucks! Thanks for all your help (on this thread and all the others). I can only imagine how much it sucks to wait and then find out that you have to wait some more....

The worst part of tracking these ships is that two-week blackout across the Atlantic Ocean. That is the pits!! I hate that part and now I have to go through it again. I have never been lucky enough to have a ship that is on sailwx, either. Never. The Traviata thread has been so lucky. I have never seen a (vehicle) ship report on the Pacific side. You guys are doubly lucky.
