My passenger mirror was stolen and the thief cut the wires for the Auto-Dim and Heating elements. I went ahead and found a replacement on ebay which has the features that fit my car. I was going to just replace my painted mirror cap with the ebay product and bolt on the new one.

My question is once i bolt the new one on will it need coding to function ?
I currently have autofold with long lock press enabled.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Another option is to just cut the wire ends from ebay product and solder then to my existing mirror assembly and slap put the mirror cap on.

No coding required when I swapped mine. Just make sure the pin out is same as what you had. I assume it would be if it has the same features.

Also, if you have a 3-series, make sure you're not getting a 4-series housing as they are different.
