Lowered or not?

I bought my car used, previous owner seemed to be a car guy (based on mods the car came with). Now the time has come to replace the front struts, and I can't tell if the car is lowered or not. This ultimately has me deciding between purchasing the Bilstein B6's or B8's. Any easy way of telling if the car is lowered?

Here are some pictures of my spring and wheel gap if it helps. I'm running 19" Vorsteiner wheels with Michellin Pilot 4S'. Does the gap look stock?

imo it is not lowered. 245/40/19 is 26.7" diameter and it's taller sidewall creates an illusion that it's lowered by reducing wheel gap but in reality the total height of the car is a bit higher. 0.35" higher if compared with OEM 26" diameter stock tires.

i don't care for Bilstein internal bumpstops and would go Koni orange over Bilstein B6.

If the previous owner was a car guy, then that is lowered. I have 255 tires with H&R springs and I have more gap than that.

Why not look for a part number on the shock and springs...................

Well I looked a bit deeper and was able to find the P/N sticker, so I understand it's not lowered.

I ended up buying the Bilstein B8's. I know they're intended for cars with aftermarket springs, but Bilstein says that for F3x's equipped with the M-Sport Suspension (S704) to use these instead of the B6's. Also I've read the B6's tend to increase ride height, and I really love my fitment at the moment.

I'll definitely report with fitment pictures after the install! Now to find an indy shop to install them... :

running tires that much larger diameter than oem, would a decrease in acceleration be felt? or is it not big enough of a difference to notice?

larger diameter = taller gearing
wider = more grip but also more rolling resistance
taller+wider = more material = heavier

not sure you can "feel" it but there IS a difference.

i consider these things when choosing what tire sizes and tires to use
