My car is possessed
I was in the garage mopping the floor around the 2006 330i and I heard a buzzing sound coming from the drivers side mirror. The mirror then on its own with nobody else around turned completely backwards with the mirror turned all way forward past its normal horizontal position. I had no keys or anything in pocket.
Nobody was there and girlfriend had left a few minutes earlier with her 2012 F30 335i and backed out of the garage. Any idea what would cause this? I pushed the mirror back to its normal position and haven't had any issues since. |

Was there a tiny man with a hook for his hand hanging around the general area of the mirror? It is spooky season.
"The power of Christ compels you!" Wait......... You were mopping your garage floor??? Oh you're in Vegas! Tile garage floor? |

It would go to fully-forward position every time I woke the car up from Sleep Mode, opening unlocked door, etc. I finally got it to run JUST enough to "Latch" in proper position. So I figure if it's bumped out of latch position it goes forward on its own until it either "Latches" or reaches the forward end of its travel. Questions for "Relative4": 1) Do you have photos, any diagrams, or links to references, which explain HOW that fold motor and its attachment/linkage to the mirror work? 2) Can you explain how the "Pin" or detent to which you are referring works, and/or HOW to get the motor to stop in the correct position to Latch or Pin Detent in Position such that the mirror is correctly positioned? 3) I am NOT aware of any INPA or ISTA function to "Initialize" or "Reset" mirror position. Only one I know of is Activate the Fold function. Any clues of software solution? Thanks, George |
