What is this plugin in my front bumper for?
I just recently purchased a 2017 340i and I noticed there is this plugin in the lower driver side front bumper. When I pull back the cover there is a round socket with three metal prongs. Does anybody know that this is for?

Probably for a block heater.

That is my thought. I live in Calgary, Alberta so that would make sense. It would be great if anyone know for sure and can tell me what kind of cables I need to make it work.

Looks like you need a Defa Miniplug Cord set.. chances are your local BMW dealership will know of the product. That being said, Defa make a few products for the F30;
If I were you, I'd chase out the wiring to see what it connects to. Some of their systems are bluetooth, so you may have to get a new control unit if you can't pair with the controller. Action Car and Truck are a retailer. https://www.actiontrucks.com/product...m-hanging-cord Last edited by zibbit; 10-12-2020 at 06:19 PM.. |

Thanks for the tip. After some more poking around the car and your info this unit is indeed a Defa block heater unit.
