I know that the f30s have a little shake on startup, I myself have experienced it, but recently my car has been shaking really bad on startup. It only gets worse when I put it in drive and let it roll. Feels like the whole car is going to fall apart.

It idles fine, just above 500 rpm after it's warmed up and I've checked the charge pipe and down pipe for leaks

Car is a 2013 335i FBO stage with 110,000 miles

The car has been running great on stage 1, but the day before the issue I really started to push it, doing multiple WOT and it felt great, but the next day I woke up, started it and now we're here. In my opinion I don't think it has anything to do with the axles, as when I rev it in park the shaking gets considerably worse.

Any advise would be great. Thank you
Also no codes

The only time I experienced terrible start ups was when I had a charge pipe burst, and when my intake inlet cracked after the Intake too the turbo. Also when I had a coil that broke inside the cylinder. Is it possible the tune is keeping the codes off?

I'll flash back to stock Tommorw and see if I get any codes. My original charge pipe broke and I had a rough idle with it, so I get what you mean. But in this case my idle seems fine, it's just the engine is shaking so much.

Thank you

Running cold start delete? Mine does the same - would far from call it violently though.

These cars eat spark plugs pretty quick when tuned. I flashed my tune at 65k miles (on original plugs) and had to replace them at 75k because of a slight miss under load and a shaky idle. Same thing happened again at 95k. I'd highly recommend changing them every 15-20k miles, when tuned.

No cold start delete. I definitely broke something when doing pulls. Been looking under the car and I just can't find anything.

Thanks tho

I have had good luck with the gap out of the box on the NGK 97506. I just verify that all are the same.

Have you had the valves walnut blasted? Just tossing out common maintenance items... lots of other good suggestions here.

Check for shadow codes.

Some people also have luck running a couple bottles of techron complete fuel system cleaner through (one bottle per tank, a few tanks in a row).

Thanks I'll try the Techron, but how do I check for shadow codes?

No, I thought that wasn't really an issue with the N55. If I can't figure it out I'll try that.

Thank you

Here's the techron you want. Its the 'complete fuel system cleaner' one, not the injector cleaner, and you want 20oz. Looks like its on sale right now too.

MHD app can scan for shadow codes. I assume BM3 can also. It will basically show both shadow codes and active codes. You could have some misfire or other shadow codes even if they aren't active.

Something similar happened to me a few months back before going stage 1, but I got a drive train malfunction along with a misfire code.

It idled decently, but would shake horribly and back fire once in motion. My issue ended up being a stuck open fuel injector. Maybe something similar?

I'd try flashing to stock, and seeing if you get any unusual pop and bangs without any burbles from the tune.

Yea I'm thinking it might be something fuel related. Gonna flash back to stock put in new spark plugs and clean the maf.

Thanks

Update:

Drove the car around more and got a code. Looks like its going to be the pre cat o2 sensor. Gonna replace it, not sure if it'll fix it, but it's worth a try.

Also my oil sensor is broken. Doubt that's causing the idle, but I'm just gonna replace everything.

Thanks to everyone who helped 👍

Car is running open-loop during warm up so I'd be surprised if it is the O2 (fingers crossed)... I logged a cold start just the other day as mine is also a little rough. I have asked my tuner to raise idle rpm to 1000 during warm up cycle.

My idle normalizes in the green area..

Cold start

True, I didn't even think about the open loop. Whatever I'm gonna replace the o2 just in case. I'll post a cold start log tmr, I don't really know how to read logs but if anything looks out of the ordinary could you tell me.

Thanks

See my post for how to read datalogs: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1732327

Although looking at cold start will be a little different than WOT pull interpretation.
