can you tell if there is any lag below 3,000 rpm?

WOW the new Idrive is freaking NIIIIICCCCCCCCEEEEEE!!! So jealous that my 07 IDrive looks like shit compared to that...I guess BMW is giving more features with the IDrive to compensate for the MSD81 bullshit lag

hey guys sorry i still dont have any pics for you guys but i can talk about the lag.
i had a 08 e92 335i and my new 09 e92 feels the same if not a little faster could be in my head because i have not driven a fast car in a while. also i dont know if it had the msd81 because i bought it in oct of 07 and never went to the dealer again after i bought it. about the new idrive i like it a lot more than my 08 i drive i am still learning how to work everything but works very smooth and has even less lag than my 08 which had almost no lag at all i will try to post pics some time this week sorry (i know i hate when people dont post pics also but i was so excited) |

I wouldn't say there is no lag. I haven't driven a pre 29.2 but my 09 335i does feel under powered in first gear below 3000 RPM, then suddenly ..... BOOST WOW! Granted I have not really floored it from a dead stop as am I am still breaking it in. So maybe that will change once I am able to fully romp on it. Weired though, it only seems to be on first gear, the other gears below 3000RPM feel fine.
To be honest, I've been too busy with the iDrive to really pay attention to the power or my driving for that matter. The new iDrive totally ROCKS!!! I really wished they would've done this sooner. More to come...

yes i noticed that 1st gear is sluggish and 2nd feels as if it has more torque. To be honest, I have never gone full on it, just drove first normally but the "slow" feeling in 1st and sudden surge above 2000 rpm's makes it feel like a turbo car. How does the 08 drive??

what is this lag nonsense? The motor/turbos didnt change at all.. DID THEY?
