M3/M4 manual AWD option in the future?

Anyone know if the AWD option will only be available for competition later this year? If so, is it possible we see other versions besides base model offer manual transmission? I'm still waiting for my non-comp order which is a lease but if it lives up to the early stellar reviews that have been surfacing (excluding grille which IMO is mean AF in sapphire black), I'd love to purchase an AWD 6MT. Who knows if BMW brings it back in future gens...

As of now, it's not gonna happen. No manual + awd model has been discussed by bmw nor has it leaked by any of our insiders to be on the roadmap.

I bet this will be the last of M3/M4 with manuals.

I wish this were the case as well but like others have said the chances seem to be ultra slim to none.

Now i'm deciding on whether to keep my 6mt 435i xdrive and drop in a larger turbo as a "project car" and go with the g82 AT xdrive, or let go of the 435i and go for the g82 6mt..... Having access to a gt350r 6MT makes the decision even more difficult

I wish. Was just thinking about this yesterday. Unlikely at best though

When I was at the driving experience center she confirmed to me that there will be no AWD MT...but what she didn't deny or confirm was my question if there will be a Touring MT. If they bring the Touring MT I seriously will rethink then to change the sedan

Awd 6mt?

Went to dealer to check out new g80. To my delight they had an alpine white 6mt in the showroom, similar to my f80 alpine white 6mt parked right outside. First time seeing it in person. Impressive, aggressive.
Anyhow, seriously considered buying it. However, told the guy in my perfect world they would make awd 6mt. To my surprise he claimed they heard rumors from BMW that would be an update in 2022, awd 6mt.

Plausible? What do you think?

I don't doubt they heard the rumor. Weird think to make up since it basically stops me from buying the car they had. Question is if you see this actually happening?

barely scroll below the fold and there is another thread on this exact topic

...Not in any future plan or being tested... most definitely not for 2022

the rumor they heard was from the little voice in their head that encourages them to talk nonsense to fill dead air

That's what I figured.

Stupid thing to say if you're trying to sell me a car.

In my extensive experience, no group of people know LESS than BMW Client Advisors. I was told by 3 of them the 6MT would definitely NOT be coming back for the G80.

Also, speaking of the "G80," say that term to them and they think youre talking about a Genesis

We should have a separate thread titles "WTF did my BMW CA just say...."

I have a couple of stories to share but it's off topic.

Now there are always knowledgeable and well informed CAs out there and I'm not generalizing, but the average CA knows much less than the average enthusiast. To most of them it's just a job so they don't get too excited to learn more

haha. My CA IS an enthusiast but there are also various levels to enthusiast. He once called me to ask me a question while with a client. I'm not special, I just spend too much time on here....

Nope. ///M xDrive operating logic doesn't pair well with MT.

Any chance BMW will change their minds? I'd upgrade from my base MT in if they did.

I would have loved to have a manual XD. But sorry to break your heart its not going to happen 100%. The take rate on the manual is only 5% and making an AWD version is just not worth it to BMW. I wouldn't be that surprised if they stop the manual once the LCI comes out but I think the manual will be available for the entire run of the G80 platform. BMW did announce that the current M3/M4/M2 are the last manuals they will produce for those cars. Then the only other manual they are doing is a Z4 and that is for the current iteration. That represents the last of manuals for BMW.

Agree completely. I also don't think they'll discontinue it for the LCI, as there's basically no downside to continuing to offer the same configuration until EOP. But there's zero chance of any enhancements (XDrive version, stronger clutch, significant power bump, etc) for the manual cars.
