My baby's back!

Right, went to BCA Brighouse yesterday looking for a bargin.

Saw lots for decent cars going for a song in about 45 - 60 seconds (R32's on a 55 plate £14k, E92 320d on a 57 plate £17k etc etc)

Then along comes my car. All of a sudden there are 4 net bidders (if its any of you lot then watch out!) and 4 more in the room. 28.8. Bollocks. So much for my estimate of £22 - 25. Bollocks. I saw a 2004 996 turbo vert at Enfield on Tuesday go for £30k.

The good news is that I didn't go all that way not to buy it so I am back on the road All in all, bollocks to the Administrators .....

SO you paid 28.8k for your car.

Seems quite a bit. But glad you got her back mate.

Nice work. Shows your car has a market. Don't worry about how much it cost, just enjoy having got it back and stuck two fingers up to the system.

I was surprised at how hot the bidding was but it is quite good news that the residuals appear to be holding up!

Since subscribing to BCA auction view 2 months ago I have only seen 3 listed and they were all quite light on spec.

How can it be overpriced at an auction?

It is only worth as much as someone is prepared to pay for it - on this occasion MORE than one person thought it was worth the price and hence that is it's current value under those conditions.

On another day it could have gone for 2k less - it could have also gone for more!!

Pleased you have your car back and the price seems fair to me. There is always going to be strong demand for a 335d coupe with the correct trade spec and it's a 1 year old £40k+ new car.

I was at the Newcastle bca a few months back on the BMW group day watching 4 e90 320d m sports, fancied a silver one. I watched some similar year se's go for 10-11k started to get excited i thought 14-15k for an 06 plate, watched and never even bid the one i wanted went for 15900 plus fees and the door needed painting so i reckon all in 16750 ish, you can buy them for less in the auto trader.

Like someone said its luck on the day.

Pleased you got what you wanted, even if you paid a bit more for it.

I am always cautious at auctions about "friends" of the seller bidding up to just below the reserve price. Noticed this a lot at property auctions. If it ends below the reserce price, it is not sold. My 2 cents

7k. It was a good spec car - £45.5 list last October.

Like you say - I know the history. I gentle owner ............

One thing that is disappointing is that some tossbag nicked the locking whee not key and the service book pack. These are security items and are a real balls ache to order.
