Odd rattling between 1500-2000 rpm

There's an odd rattle that can best be described as a dust devil inside of a tin can. Happens most notably in D mode, between 1500-2000 rpm. I'm thinking it's the primary cats degrading at the top and flying around in the cylindrical chamber it rests in.

Has anyone experienced this before? I've heard it now in my 330 and a friends old 328.
