drivers side window button got wet
I had to get out of my car in a downpour the other night. My driver door got soaked. Later on that evening when I went out again after the rain, the window buttons started acting funny with the windows. This has happened before and in about 24 hours everything was fine. So this time I used the key fob to put up the windows and didn't use them for 24-36 hours. When I did try again both windows went down, but the dirver side does not come back up. I have to use the key to get the window to go up. It has been about 4 days since the the rain.
I figure the up electrical connection has fried under the button. Would this be an easy swap out of an electrical board or would this be more involved? DO you think it could just still have some moisture and a hair dryer or heat gun could help? |

I would definitely remove it and take it apart and try to dry it all up the best you can. Using it while it has moisture inside is a recipe for failure

Yeah I havent used it since I saw it wont go back up.
Is it fairly easy to get that part out? Can I leave the door panel on and open up the handle? |

Well That assembly was super easy to pop out. I took a blow dryer to it for about 15 minutes and stuck it in rice over night. Unfortunately, the window up still does not work. However, the part is only $180 on FCPEuro. I'll be ordering a new one.

Just went through this a few months ago, a bunch of snow got on my button piece and it wouldn’t work! (Main drivers one). I took it out, and put it in a big bag of rice overnight, next day worked fine again been normal since!

I’m the only one who goes to pull yards, really? They are $15 at my local yard. $180 for that part you must be a rich guy! Darn

I do enough DIY on our cars and around our house that I do not have a problem buying new parts. I have had enough bad luck with used/refurbished that I stick to new. To each their own. |

How do you use the key fob to get the windows up? That's a feature I miss from my old GTI. I was told when I got my car that if I added the alarm that would work, but it doesn't.
