Dinan G20 330i CAI?

So apparently this is out now?

https://www.dinancars.com/products/i...arts/D760-0055

$425

Quote:
Features:
Outflows factory intake by 58% or more.
Enjoyably louder, sportier sound.
Beautifully crafted carbon fiber construction (lid and tube).
Improved throttle response
Larger volume air box (60% larger than stock).
40% increase in filter area (stock: 82 inē, Dinan: 115 inē) for optimum flow.
Quick and easy installation
Merits of a CAI aside, this seems to be the best looking for the price?

Too bad the lid doesn't accommodate any of the bracing, OEM or aftermarket, that is becoming available.

While it looks cool under the hood, it makes no additional power and the B58 version based on a few reviews is only slightly louder than stock at best.

Yep. I feel the same about it as you. Hopefully exhaust is coming soon. No point in adding an intake that doesn't add power.

The flash tune is coming soon. That + the intake & exhaust is going to be 👌🏼

I have a boost controller, so power is not an issue, lack of exhaust note is. In addition, the tune isn't enough to take advantage of the intake.

Fair enough, I guess I'm just a Dinan snob.

To be fair, I could say it added 3 HP. At that juncture though its in the realm of dyno variance hence why its not being advertised. Seems a bit disingenuous to do so to me.

The previous gen 4 cylinder (N20) we had the same issue where meaningful power could not be obtained so we didnt release a product (cost was another factor but not pertinent to my point) and a couple times a week I get asked about it. I tell them it makes no power and the response almost universally is I would still buy it. Sooooo...

Here's this generation with same limitations on power but with more benefits then in the past (more noise, prettier) and with the upside that on higher levels of tuning it will provide a more meaningful power benefit. More to stand on so we rolled the dice and will see if what folks always tell us (for the N20 at least) is actually true.

There's worse type of snobs to be. At least we give off a pleasant aroma.

And the Burger Tuning front cross strut braces won't clear this intake either...

It does not. Alternative lid for the 4 series (and presumably the upcoming 2 series) that comes with stock braces is in development and could be applied to a non-OE brace car (like the 330i) if desired.

I'm in no hurry to get an intake so I can wait.

Any word on an exhaust release for the 330i?

Same here.

The bracing offers more tangible results in my mind. If Dinan makes a compatible lid, great... A CAI for this car seems to be a little superfluous - but it does make the engine bay look cool (IMO) and it's a fraction of the cost of other CF intakes.

Plus if you get enough points you can get a new badge.

In the queue. Exhaust demand over the past year has been ridiculous and coupled with supply chain issues has created some nasty backlogs on that product category. As such the focus for production is on satiating existing paid for orders rather then new SKU's that will make the situation worse. I am optimistic we will see a shift back to more focus on the production side for new product soon given the increase in shifts, personnel, and capital in that side of the business. Got to pay dividends sooner rather then later, right? =)
