Saw one in person today

Saw my first G80C in Blue today on the fwy in traffic. It was creeping along and looked at it for a while from different angles. OMG it looks so nice. Unbelievable road presence. Not like the pictures at all. Anyways, that's all. Seriously considering it now. Good day!

In person it’s a definite game changer… a couple months ago I went to check one out at a local dealer. They were appraising my trade-in 10 minutes later

Seems to be most people's reactions.

The actual width and road presence cannot be fully appreciated in pictures.

Often times in my cars in general I wish I could see someone else driving them so I could fully appreciate the road presence. It's one of the reasons I stand and stare as the dealer valet service guy drives it off for service.

This car is a lot like the GTR in that lots of people say negative things about the looks online, but the car in real life has exceptional street presence for a non-exotic. The size helps. As much as I loved my M2C, I missed the presence of the bigger cars.

Is the steering better than the M2C?
Do you miss anything about the M2C after moving to the M3?

I find the steering better in the G8x; it’s sharper and more direct and lighter. The M2C has a natural agility advantage because of the shorter wheelbase.

Beyond the smaller wheelbase and the complete lack of depreciation, I don’t miss anything from the M2C. I was curious to experience the car again to confirm this and found an OG M2 to drive a few days ago - my feelings haven’t changed. The G8x is just too much of an engineering and technological advance over the much older F87.

The G87 is going to be the one to watch for.

Thanks, also heard that there's an LCI coming in future and there will be two LCIs? I might wait out a bit.

I have 2 kids and might not go back to the 2 series. Although I do have an X5 for the family, I also wish to add a M3C to my stable so we can make longer trips.

That's the one thing I can't do with my M2C and forced to drive short local trips. I wish I could take it to SF, Vegas or the Pacific coast highway. Just can't leave my family behind and kids will be super uncomfortable in the M2 backseat.

In that case, the M3C is the easy choice. Coming from the M2C, I think you'll be very happy with the more optimized balance of practicality and performance.

I loved my M2C; it was my favorite BMW before my current G82. However, there were a few minor compromises in addition to the obvious ones. Small gas tank. Mediocre stereo. Squealing brakes. Only one parking camera (rear). No spring-loaded trunk hinges. G8x resolves all of that and more (interior, HUD, more power, even better handling, new iDrive, far more customizable driving experience, more compliant/refined suspension, far more road presence, more trunk room). Going M2C -> M3C is a truly no-compromise deal.

If you can, take a test drive and hit some tight corners at speed. It's pretty cool.

I completely agree. I usually stare back at my cars after parking and walking away in most parking lots. This is a similar behavior.

I was the same way. Figured I would trade my F82 for a G80 at some point (had a kid, need back doors now lol) until I saw the design come out. Hated the grille at first just like everyone else... First one I saw on the road in person was Brooklyn Grey and absolutely stunning. I've seen a few more IRL since and I'm sold. Now I'm patiently waiting for that first round of lease returns to hit the lots......

Went to dealership to see in person and exact opposite. Ugly as can be, weird lines. So bad wife won't even think about it. Had M3/M4's for over 10 years. Maybe the H82 will be better.

I'm hoping more people don't like it.

I'm going to try and leverage all the controversy of the grill.

Personally I think the car looks Outstanding!!!!

No confusing it with a 340

Can't believe I'm commenting in here as I think these threads are becoming extremely repetitive and redundant, however this statement I haven't seen enough.

My favorite thing is how much it separates itself from the G20. The cars are clearly distinguishable from one another, unlike the F platform, in my opinion, blended too much.
