Way louder pops and bangs after upgraded FMIC install

As the title suggests: the pops and bangs on my M2 are way louder after installing the CSF intercooler. My setup is as follows:

- FTP charge- and boostpipe
- MST V2 turbo inlet pipe
- MST cold air intake
- MPE exhaust

Software and downpipe are stock.

Is there a logical correlation between the install and the louder pops and bangs?

Thanks in advance!

possibly a small boost leak on the charge pipe that is making it 'bang' louder

I'm guessing the intake air temperatures going into the engine would be cooler with the new intercooler compared to the stock intercooler.

Since colder air has more oxygen than warm air, there's more oxygen to combust i.e. louder pops and generating more power.

Do you also notice slightly better performance? Or just louder bangs.

Thanks for this, sounds like a logical explanation to me. I do notice a slightly better performance, yes.

If there were any leaks I wouldn't be able to notice a better performance and I would have done something wrong then, right?

Thanks for your reply, however I am noticing a slightly better performance which wouldn't imply any leaks, right?

Sounds like it's installed correctly if you're feeling better consistency.

Also, if you have an obd2 cable/adapter it's possible to collect data logs on the boost pressure to compare with what is normally expected on the stock turbo to confirm.

Thanks for that, I'm not familiar with logging or anything, so I'll look into that!
