Can anyone share their experience at Dream Racing or Exotic Racing in Vegas?
Was it worth it? I’m thinking of jumping into GT3 RS, Huracan Performante and F430 Scuderia for 5-7 laps each. Cost is approximately ~$1200–$1500 |

i've done it, twice in fact.. really fun and felt i got my money's worth. the guy i was with really let me push the cars...almost too much lol. There was a couple times in the huracan where i was standing on the brake pedal coming into turn 1 after the straight at 130-140mph, ABS kicking in, and still couldn't reach the apex despite all my effort. another time i nearly understeered the gt3 off but let off and tucked the nose back in.
if you understand the basics of racing like slow in, fast out, apexes, weight transer etc. (ie you've done track days or are fairly good at racing games like forza/gt/assetto corsa)the instructor will notice pretty quickly and let you have some fun. they have you do a sim racing thing before going out on track. its pretty garbage. there is no force feedback on the wheel. don't worry if you aren't good at it. My big warning... be careful if you've never driven a mid engine supercar before. After i drove the GT3 and Huracan my own 700hp GTR felt like trash and i sold it.

The pricing on this is actually not bad considering:
I did a high performance driving event in my own car with an instructor. Cost was around $600. Plus about $300 in track day insurance, ~$100 in track day supplies, plus about $1100 for a new set of tires after I took about a year of tread off my street tires. So $1500 driving someone else's car, with a co-pilot, and not having to pay for their tires extra or insurance....not bad! |

Im a little intimidated because I’ve never driven a supercar before, but like you said, the instructor will pick up on my confidence level and will know the limits. Did you do the “outside” track course or the inside one? |

The GT3 is better built. feels more tightly put together. it has by far more performance. i could slide the ferrari around relatively easily... the porsche its almost impossible to get unstuck on the road. personally i think the gt3 sounds better to my ear (sharkwerks exhaust on my gt3, tubi on the 458). the engines in both are equally powerful if you look at dynos. The GT3s main drawback is that you need to be going at least 60-70+ for it be fun. like your GT4 the gearing is pretty tall for street use. my main reason for going gt3 was i wanted a manual high rpm supercar before they go extinct. paddles just don't do it for me. Also i lowered my 458 to get rid of the huge wheelgap... but that also made it hard to take around as it would scrape easily. porsche has there suspension and wheelgap perfect from factory. no need for spacers or lowering springs to make it look right.

yeah it will take a little bit to get used to but after after 2-3 laps you should be a bit familiar with the car and grip levels. they leave the traction in race mode for everyone too so that helps sort you out if things get hairy. the instructors are really good and will tell you when to brake, when to get back on power, etc. when i went they offered a few laps in a cayman for an extra fee as a warmup. you could consider doing that so that way you can have more time going hard in the cars you picked... instead of wasting a few laps learning the track.

I did Dream Racing LV. Very professional setup and a good experience if you've never been to a race track. I booked a supercar - forgot which one - and got a free upgrade to the F430 GT3 race car experience. The session included the race suit and the simulator session with instructor.
To me the negatives were that the Dream Racing infield track is tiny and the instructor did not let me push even a tiny bit. Maybe cos it was the expensive 430 GT3 car, I dunno. I'm a fairly experienced trackie and it was a bit of a letdown. Still, the rawness of driving an actual GT3 race car was fun but I probably would not do it again. For the money, I'd rent a street supercar for the day and find some canyon roads to run on my own. |

Probably not. I mean I guess if you've never been behind the wheel of one of those cars and absolutely have to. Considering the wide breadth in driving skill of all the different types of customers, I would wager that they always default to the lowest common denominator. Meaning you're going to get a neutered experience where the instructors will limit you considerably and treat you like a novice. Plus for the limited laps - is probably not worth it overall. At least for me I can say for certain, could be worth it for others. Services like this generally seem like they are suited more for people who don't have any excess interest or enthusiasm for cars past it.

I did Dream Racing LV a few years ago in a 458 italia. Definitely worth the price to me. My instructor was great, and after 4 of my 8 laps he said "go ahead and set the car to track mode" which gave me a bit more slide out of the corners and we had mega fun. My only complaints were the fact I was super hung over and whipping a 458 does NOT help with the nausea, and the in-car video was not worth the $50 upcharge.
I've heard the argument that you can go to Royalty Exotics and rent something for a much longer period of time but you won't be on a race track, with a professional instructor sitting next to you. |
