Missing bolt from charge pipe?

I had my charge pipe upgraded around 2 years ago now so that I could run an MHD map.

Since then I've been running their Stage 2+ map and still enjoy it, some days though I have random bursts of what feels like more energy.

I just presumed it was an IAT thing however during a health check at a handling/tuning specialist one of the mechanics spotted that my charge pipe is missing a 6mm screw, therefore it's supposedly leaking boost like crazy.

Can anyone confirm where this 6mm bolt sits? I checked with the mechanic on the phone that he didn't mean the unused meth port which is bunged up, but he was adamant it's a small screw/bolt that was missing.

The garage I use now is super trustworthy, they are on the ball and super honest, whereas the garage I used for my charge pipe 2 years ago unplugged my thermostat in hopes I would return for more work.. so it wouldn't surprise me I just can't see anything on the cp diagram as to where it would screw in.

there are sometimes two bungs and then you have the screw holes for the map sensor.

did they replace the screw or just give uou vague info and send you on your way? lol

Must be the second bung then..

They're keeping the car in as I've been having issues with my coilovers, it was only by chance that he spotted it whilst lifting the car up. He said they would try and find the correct sized part to fill it.

It was just an extra thing he noted when giving me a call back about the coilovers

those are standard sizes. if he can't find a bolt they are terrible

local guy with a 328 bought a vrsf and it was missing almost all the hardware and he had no idea what he was doing. it had multiple leaks and he was using a coupler to attach it to the IC.. he had barely a few psi lol.

a missing bung should be an easy fix... they will sometimes back out for sure if not tightened properly

Bung plugs should be teflon taped and screwed in tight to prevent leaks and backing out. A missing bung is a massive boost leak though, it should have been obvious from the datalogs you should have been collecting. IIRC they are NPT thread.

The garage I initially used for the charge pipe install were absolute idiots, he left it until late friday one day to do it, I turned up at 6pm after dropping the car off at 7am and they still hadn't started. They clearly rushed it and messed about.

That's the annoying bit, MHD sold the data logging separately when I bought in.. even though I bought a bundle it was still extra $$$. I tried reaching out to them after they started including it with the bundles but they weren't interested, so unless I buy the bundle all over again I can't data log

*just collected the car - so he dropped the charge pipe to fully inspect it and found there was a bung, but it had loosened itself really far inside and was eventually going to work its way inside.. I'm guessing the blame is on a mixture of MTC parts and a bad install by the dodgy garage. The guy today wrapped it in ptfe tape and made sure it was fully secured with no possible movement, hopefully that'll fix it and stop any boost leaks they spotted.

Yup, i bought all my MHD stuff (flasher, map packs, datalogging) before they even started offering the bundle so i technically overpaid compared to the new bundle offers.

However, i am not sure what you are saying in the 2nd part. You can buy just the monitoring license by itself. You wouldn't need to buy the entire bundle again just to get monitoring.

Yeah my bad, I found it after going to their old store page from a google result.

Their current shop page doesn't display the license for me weirdly, all good now
