N55 oil cap leak ?

Need advice. I have a 2014 bmw 435. About 100 miles ago I've changed the oil cooler gasket with it change the filter and a new o ring for the oil cap. Oil seems to seep from the oil cap…. Should I replace the cap ?

I had this happen to me recently. Be careful! I was losing a lot of oil on long drives. Easy fix. Install new cap, top off the oil and your good to go! I did have to go to autozone and get the right size cap wrench.

Perhaps the gasket for the filter cap is pinched?

I did an oil change about 4-5k miles ago and it's been sipping since. Just replaced the filter and the o ring. Lubricated the O ring while putting it back on. Could be a possibly pinched

Most likely the route I'm gonna take with this inconvenience

Did you use the OEM/Mann Oil Filter package for your car or another from the Auto parts store. Had a neighbor a couple of years ago use the STP package identified as correct for his 2014 335i. Leaked immediately around the filter cap. When we pulled it off, discovered the o-ring was not round, but oval in shape across the width, thereby not sealing. He filed a complaint with STP , but heard nothing

The Mahle is just as good as the Mann. Check for nicks, cuts or partially crushed o-ring. By any chance did you use a tool like a slip wrench around the base of the cap to remove it? If so, it may be deformed. Just "spit-balling" here.

That's an accurate hypothesis. I actually did, but it's been seeping prior to my intervention

Hey ovo Dima, if you plan on keeping the car for a while just start ordering from FCP euro. they offer free replacement parts for as long as you own the car.

I would get an oil filter cap and anything else you need from them.

Have a great weekend!

My cap caused a small leak that built up over time, replaced with a nice bilet one, fixed the leak.

Heat and over torque can cause it to crack
