Tyres

Just curious, because never noticed on the test car, what tyres are on the 20' rims? Assuming Michelin Pilots, but wanted to check.

Yes they do, as I would expect from a set of factory wheels

Gonna say anything fitted from dealer/factory will be * tyres, seems as its bmw's 'tuned tyres' thing.

ix3 winter tyres

has anyone looked at putting winter tyres on their ix3 yet?

I took delivery of mine on Friday and note that the door sticker only identifies 19" M&S tyres. this would necesitate buying a new set of wheels rather than buying 20" winters.

i have been informed that putting the 20" winters on might invalidate the warranty/isurance, is this the case?

i also know that bmw as not released the winter wheel/tyre package yet.

Can't see why installing 20's winter tyres would invalidate the warranty? Shouldn't at least I wouldn't assume.

But suppose depends where you are and what your warranty is like.

I have been informed by the dealer, that X3 wheels also fit the iX3. I also remember that, when I test drove a demo car back in March, it was equipped with the 20" inch iX3 wheels mounted with Pirelli SottoZero 3's

I ordered 19” wintertyres with my car and as it was delivered in February they put them on directly. The issue for me is that other countries require wintertyres (Germany f.e.) and snow chains do not fit on the 20” wheels due to little room between tyre and car. Even sticking snow to 20” wheels can cause issues I guess.

Just got a bit wiser... Thought I had found a set of original BMW wheels with winter tyres in 20" with 245/275 and Pirelli SottoZero 3 Run flats. And with the message from the dealer, that X3 (G01) wheels also fit the iX3, I was ready to order... Then took a look in the manual, where it is explicitly stated that with 20" and 245/275s Run flats must NOT be used.

I have just been informed that BMW (for now) will only offer one version of winter wheels, 19" with Michelin Run flats

Oddly enough I as told NOT to use RunFlat tyres due to the weight of the car.

I know the 20's at least aren't Run Flats, you get an emergency kit.

Have any of you tried all year tyres in iX3? Is it good idea in Europe where there is not much snow anyway in winter?

Just curious. Does it say if you can use 19" on run flats?
