Check your builds!

If you've ordered a new 2er, contact your dealer and see if there's been any changes to your build.

BMW is in short supply of option 610 Head-up display and it will be removed from some builds containing premium package (will now be Premium Package 2).

I've also noticed Sirius XM being deleted.

not good news

if that happens to me I will cancel order. Both of those are must haves for my long-term purchase

Still there - is it safe to assume that if I'm already in production I'm in the clear?

Hmm, mine is scheduled for production in October and I still see the heads up display listed but can't find Sirius XM anymore. Thanks for the heads up!

oh no this is really bad news! these things are all really important to me so not sure what I'll do if they are removed. ugh! will I be able to see this through the track my bmw website where it lists my car and options?

I do see on my build sheet the dealer sent me that the car has "satellite radio preparation". does that means it's setup for satellite radio so I can order it when I get the car instead of it being included for free for a year like they normally do?

also the heads up display is still listed on my build sheet and on the track my bmw webpage, so I hope that means it's still included. my car is scheduled for production but hasn't started production quite yet.

“Satellite radio preparation” likely means you will have the wiring but not the tuner module (which I assume they are having supply issues with). So it’s probably possible to install the tuner and enable satellite radio later, once the part is available.

At least that’s how it worked on older vehicles like my E90. “Bluetooth preparation” used to be a thing too, if you go far enough back. It meant the car on the lot didn’t have the feature the dealer could add it on for you, since all the wires are there.

If they remove HUD (and some other stuff), I'm halting my order.

thanks for the info. that totally sucks I'll have to have it installed later, but at least that might still be an option as I really like having satellite radio. I'm sure that will cost more too.

talked to my sales guy today. he confirmed that satellite radio is standard on the car but it has been deleted from my build. also he said he estimates that it may cost as much as $500 to have it installed at the dealership at a later time! wtf?!!!

Deleted from my build also.
I Wonder:
1) Deleted from other series builds, or just the G42?
2) What will SiriusXM have to say about the loss of revenue. Incentives by them to add the feature at a later date? I do like satellite radio, but not a deal breaker.
3) What options do we have for our Music libraries (iTunes for me). Sure I can do Carplay on my phone, but I like to have a dedicated source for convenience.
Is there a hard drive in the car with enough storage? Thumb drive in the USB?
Actual external HD of some form or another? Or just stop overthinking it like a Boomer and use Carplay?

I keep a USB drive full of music in my car as a backup. I think that’s a good idea even if use SiriusXM, as it doesn’t work if you lose view of the sky (forests and parking garages)

I was poking around and saw a couple threads over in the X3 forums complaining about deleted SiriusXM so I assume it is a broader issue.

Maybe consider trying Spotify? BMW has a built in standalone app. Looks like you can control playlists very similar to radio stations natively without using CarPlay.

the problem is when I'm in the mtns and don't have cell service. that's when satellite radio is really nice.

I have to have SiriusXM.. I am an audio buff and why I also ordered HK audio.

If deleted from my build, the factory better pre-wire for Sirius and then have dealer install it once parts are available for no charge. If not, I will cancel my order and wait for New Nissan Z

I agree that this is how bmw should handle the situation, but my sales guy implied that bmw had already reduced the price of car a bit to compensate for not including satellite radio; however, I'm not sure I buy that or have seen any price reduction.

Integrated Sirius XM is a must have for my car since what, 15 years plus? I literally wouldn't buy a new car without it. Casting from a mobile device is absolutely embarrassing and completely unacceptable in a luxury marque.

Figured it might be helpful to some to mention my M240i had "Satellite Radio Removal" listed under standard features until about three days ago. It's always had "Satellite Radio Preparation" listed.

My theory is the RAM modules that are specific to satellite radio are in short supply due to increased demand for warranty replacements. I've replaced a few of these for bass speaker complaints recently and they've been fairly hard to come by.

Hopefully this change in my build means they've fixed the supply chain issue for now!

Satellite radio sounds like ass. I simply can't listen to it due to the audio quality being so terrible. How is it possibly better than CarPlay and literally any streaming content you can think of?

are you seeing these changes when you login to MyBMW and click on the track the status of your car option? I'm hoping you are right that they fixed the supply chain issue and I'll be pleasantly surprised when my car gets here that satellite radio is included!

Sirius/XM audio quality is very good in our Kia Sportage and 2008 Mustang GT. Don't know what you're listening to?? Was also very good in my 2018 230i

also Sat radio is also for news, business & sports
